iv met a friend who collected physical CDs of very VERY RARE BANDS and he made me listen to so many RARES that made me absolutely hooked like a drug to visual kei. There is such a sad feeling of wonder after u listen to a song that is so fucking good but u want to find more about the band and they have only released 2 singles or 1 album and they are gone!!!!. that makes me really sad. but more hooked to the genre

in my case I couldn't get into JILUKA, my favourite thing it's collect pictures of Boogie and Zyean but when I went to listen, it didn't caught my attention (I probably wasn't even paying attention honestly) but I kept trying cause I really like the members, and then I listened to Kumari and Blvck and it blew my mind

It's funny bc the gazette was what got me into vkei. Something about their music just grabbed me and it sucks I don't remember how I even found them but I'm so glad I did.

It was Dir En Grey for me. I really tried for years, but only in the past month had I finally started to like their music. It was really strange too since I have always liked that musical style of Vkei.

It’s Gackt… will forever be Gackt. I heard one song and as soon as he started singing I was immediately annoyed. I feel bad about it because he was my introduction to Japanese musicians. Still don’t like his music but I respect the hustle. The man does everything.

For me it was Kiryu. Mahiro's vocals were hard to get used too at first but now I have learned to truly appreciate them. Now I consider Kiryu one of my favorite bands😅

    • @Savette_
      @Savette_  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Same. I revisted Kiryu recently, and Mahiro's vocals didn't bother me. In the past, it was a no for me, but now I'm open to exploring more of their stuff

That’s so interesting 😭😭 I’ve always found his voice to be so good like it’s not good in a pleasing angelic way or anything but it matches their genre so much it’s perfect

To this day, most of the VK bands I like have a sound that is influenced by Luna Sea in one way or another (or influenced by bands who were influenced by Luna Sea). I'll forever love them.

This is gonna sound so crazy but it's 1am and I can't sleep because my shorts feed was full of like real creepy stuff, like old war photos, disfigured people, etc... so I ran to this channel to listen to a friendly music chat to help me go to sleep

A band that i couldn't get into at first but like now would probably be Cocklobin or Emmurée.
I first got into them because i was into 9goats Blackout. I heard the term Nagoya Kei used to describe them, and someone suggested the bands mentioned earlier and i just couldn't vibe with the vocals.
VK vocalists are almost always an acquired taste though. After about 10 years i decided to go back and i feel that both bands have a uniqueness thats hard to come by these days. Emmurée especially has a raw and unapologetic quality, and I'm honestly flabbergasted that theyre still together despite being lesser known for so long.

It's the opposite for me lol. I used to be obsessed with VK (the 2nd era of VK when bands like Dir en grey, Gazette and Mucc was the most popular, I still have yet to check out more of the 1st era cause all I heard was Malice Mizer which I really enjoyed, the new era is too much melodic metalcore/deathcore for my taste but I do like Deviloof since they are more straight up creatively heavy especialy the ONI album cause I felt they were reaching their inner Diru with that album which I appreciate), like there was no band I didn't like lol but now I can't stand most of the vocals lol. Most VK vocals I don't care for cause they can get a little too overdramatic, whiny and screechy which isn't really my thing anymore (ears getting older with me I guess lol) but I really enjoy always the more normal VK vocals like D'espairsRay, The Gazette and Girugamesh because they really make me sing along and make me feel the passion more. Doesn't mean though I don't enjoy most VK instrumentally because I still love the instrumentals and songwriting work of bands like Dir En Grey, Mucc and Kagerou (R.I.P. Daisuke 🙏🏿) for example.

The Gazette was the band that got me into visual kei. After them I found SID. Both were used on Black Butler and I'm happy I've found even more bands that I love since. MUCC, Girugamesh, D, Diaura, and more.

I had the same experience with Ryohei from Ayabie and Megamasso. Ayabie was my honmei band and Ryohei was my favorite member, and when he left, Ayabie went downhill imo. Took me ages to recover from the "betrayal" lol. But I made it over the Megamasso and found a new honmei again! Only for... Ryohei to disband them! My heart...

honestly for me it was Malice mizer, especially because I had only listened to their music during Gackt's era and it wasn't for me. But then I discovered the bara no seidou album and I absolutely loved it. My favorite era is Klaha's, but I've learned to love Tetsu's and Gackt's eras too. I fucking love Malice mizer now lol

I agreed with the age thing. but besides your taste and the quality of the music. Isnt it so fun going back throu history. Like GANDALF in the library searching for bands reading biographies. reading foros joining visual kei discord channels. Its just a very fun journey to the past. and yeah with age that becomes easier or more fun

the only song I know by matenrou opera is helios and i think it's amazing!!! As far as groups I couldn't get into, I listened to a couple solo Kaya and Shazna songs and I thought the sound was too light for me but after months of not listening to them, I gave them a shot and now I love them.

to be fare (i dont know if this is normal but..) when i was yong I will only absolutely obsess to 1(one) band and only listen to them every day non stop. that happend to me with Malice mizer Moi dix mois and Versailles. Versailles being the longest. and i can assure u i spend 3 years non stop listening to versailles. maybe of course all bands that come with them. Hizaki grace project and Kamijo solo carrer. I regret it cus iv missed many bands that i would have been stoked to be a fan back them and finding out they were in my country and i could have gone to watch them live. but i just didnt know since i was a drug addict to versaillles xD

I remember thinking and feeling the same things about Versailles.
I knew Hizaki and Teru from Hizaki Grace Project.
I knew Jasmine You from Jakura.
    I knew Kamjo from Lareine.
But I just didn't like the feeling of the idea of Versailles. I think it's because it felt too 'created' or something. I was suspicious of it being too 'corporate formula' or something.
