- We tried martabak for the first time ever in Indonesia & it was such a shock!! It was absolutely amazing! Actually, I believe they call this sweet murtabak terang bulan in bahasa Indonesia! In our countries, cheese & chocolate is a strange combination but somehow it really works well in the martabak! Sangat sedap lah 😍🇮🇩

Fyi , as a bakers i think cake is more full fat than martabak actually.. cause inside the cake , there is sugar, butter, cream, milk,a lot of butter cream, sometimes they add oil or more sugar syrup, add more jam..
The Cheese in all Indonesian desserts is used to balance the taste, so the dessert is not too sweet
Chocolate, cheese and peanuts in martabak is the legendary combination

Martabak manis (sweet martabak) is more likely a pancake, while the one using a roti canai based is the egg martabak using mixture of duck egg, meat and some vegetables fried in a wide pan

I like both the sweet and savoury Martabak equally, and you ordered the right 1, choc + cheese is my fav, don't really like the Nutella 1 coz it ends to tasting salty with the cheese.
You can also visit north Sumatra, Medan, toba lake, Pekanbaru, Padang, and many tourism place in Sumatera. Enjoy it
what you eat is not martabak but moonlight ( Indonesia = terang bulan ) only the cart writing is martabak.
Sweet martabak is very wonderful! you will feel buttery in martabak skin when you take the martabak by hand. the sweet combination of chocolate and cheese will melts in the mouth.

After reading all the comments.. i think i should not explain anything.. anymore.. i thoughts you already try apam balik in Malaysia.. maybe i am wrong. But Indonesia martabak don't get confused with murtabak because Indonesia martabak and Malaysia apam balik totally taste, texture, size and variant completely different.
They are wrong. Martabak is salty one and the sweety one we call it Terang Bulan.
@@pakdeking8862 perhaps you stay at central Java, all people's there call it terang bulan, but at Jakarta they call it Sweet Martabak and Salty Martabak

There are 2 kinds of martabak in Indonesia. sweet and salty martabak. the sweet ones like the ones you buy on your youtube. and the salty ones are filled with duck eggs, meat curry. and green onions

In Indonesia ...they call it Martabak, in Malaysia we call Apam Balik, atau kuih terang bulan....our martabak is a little bit different....just like the other nouns/verbs...Malaysia/Indonesia language may the same pronounce but different meaning

Sweet martabak (ID) = apam balik (Mal), while martabak/ savory martabak (ID) = murtabak (Mal)... The taste are quite similar.
In Malaysia, you use two name for different taste one :
Sweet.... Apam balik
Savory.....Murtabak
