I'm in the middle of this build, and almost done... This is my second FT build, first was goblin, which was super easy.. This one got intense, but once you did the nose, every step you do, you just look at it in awe.. designed by kids.. Amazing.. I wish I got into this when I was younger..
Im in the works with scratch building this plane now, printed the plans from flite test, unless there is another size to this aircraft , mine is Ft-Alpha mini, there is a mis mark from the plans to the build with Josh that I am watching , he's AWEASOME, concerning the nose piece and lower fuselage, they are marked as ,on the nose piece, 45 degree bevel instead of a cavity, and no 45 degree mark down center, on fuselage, in the center below the nose there are no 45 degree bevel marks and no paper removal, just to make everyone aware, im a beginer learning the hobby and very excited, I would rather build my first planes than buy a RTF. Josh and his team have been a TREMENDOUS help and will keep building. I am currently on my third build and love the challenges, saving for all electronics and radio etc. Keep up the good work flite!
If you watch this, and any other video with Bixler in it, at 50% speed, Josh sounds hilariously drunk! 😂 But in all serious, as always, love what you guys are doing for the hobby. Keep on doing exactly what y'all do! Happy landings in 2017!!!
i made this to give as a birthday present, and he had a lot of fun with it. His dad also likes rc planes and is a bit more advanced so this was perfect for both of them
This sounds like a fantastic way to engage students in the fields of Flight (in general), RC Flight (specifically), and several other fields of learning, any of which could end up being an excellent career choice down the road. Keep up the GREAT work!
Wow, I said this before but this is amazing. These kids are awesome. The must be so proud of themselves especially with the exposure they are getting from you guys.
THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS, THE BOYS DID WELL FROM WHAT I SEE. ATLEAST THEY ARE NOT ROBBING, STEALING, ETC. AND THEY ARE LEARNING THE HOBBY THAT THEY MAY WELL LOVE AND A LITTLE OF AERODYNAMICS AS WELL. WHAT A JOY TO SEE SOMETHING YOU HAVE HAD A HAND IN TAKE TO THE SKY. FUCTURE PILOTS? GOOD JOB TO YOU SIR! U BOAT COMMANDER 157.
I know the laser can't do a 45, but could you possibly have it do a dotted line where the 45 would cut through as a base guideline? They could still trim as needed, etc, but give them more confidence that the original cut is going to be close.
I would look forward to some commercial plane builds! Getting the round fusealauge would be kinda' hard, but it sure would get peoples attention. Maybe you could drag Peter back and let him have at it sence he loves passenger planes :-D
Now I have to say that this plane is a very good build and would seem exceptionally sturdy. I plan to buy the speed build kit and bring it to my stem club at school when it opens! Hopefully I can make another FT STEM!
The kits are pretty cheap, without all the hardware. You could just build the planes and decorate them. Then later when you have extra cash, buy and install the hardware.
Lucas....grab some foam and just get really good at building. Start in order from beginning and make each one. I made gliders for 13 months before investing in electronics. You could get in the air for well under $100. I am 40 now and I started learning about this hobby 2 years ago. I always was fascinated by r.c. and I finally started to give it a go. You will surprise yourself with how good your foam building skills will progress. I started with the FT arrow. I built probably more than 15. You will learn so much just making Chuck gliders. Go to $ store 2day and grab 3 sheets of foam and get started. Each sheet costs a buck!
40$ 6 channel fly sky recover and transmitter holds 20planes. And a full power kit esc motor servo 60$ LiPo 10$ and charger about $30(for a decent long lasting one).... foam board 1$ you could build many planes for that. Not too bad really dude
Thanks and great build video, but it has to be noted you show to make the motor spin counter clockwise at the start. That is backwards with an F pack. I was lucky I could reach the wires and swap them, but mine needs to spin clockwise to push.
I noticed that not one comment o. This vid has been replied to ... I've been trying to get a hold of anyone on flitetest for questions on your product , I thought the bennifet of buying from American companies and brands were for the customer service and support but here I am a week later ten emails and not one response or reply ... Thanks flitetest for being so busy that u can't reply to one comment ....
With how may videos they have I doubt that they can reply to all of comments on them. The forums are a good place to go for answers, the community is strong there and willing to help.
Nice bird. It's a little tricky for a non native english speaker to understand all the additional information about programming the transmitter. Where ist the best spot to mount the receiver? In the canope?
Actually, I put a sharp edge on a puddy knife, and that can be used for removing access hot glue, and scotch tape. So you don't have to keep the tape on the foam
Hold it down 45 seconds to a minute to let the glue dry? It is dry before I even have the time to stick those parts together. What kind of magic are you using?
BETTER Hot Glue! First, DON'T use low temp. Josh never does... If your Glue Sticks are milky looking, THROW THEM AWAY!! The FT Store carries the right stuff. Wal-Mart even carries the right stuff. It should have a light blue tint, and be quite translucent
@@CarminesRCTipsandTricks The import taxes on FT Store stuff is way too expensive for me. And so is a plane ticket to get to a walmart. We don't have those here in Europe. Also, the only temperatures I can choose are on and off..
hi guys I'm farley new to flying rc and i have the apprentice s. Its awesome but I've also got two other planes that are really nice and is like to keep them that way. my question is can i buy the"safe system" and put it in my other two planes. thanks, Andrew
Mmm can I bougth one of thoose planes? Because am starting to get in this but i need a plane that is not that expensive but i needed one more slow than that one? Plsss
in this video you say to make sure the motor is spinning counter clockwise , my issue is the prop gf 6030 that come with the f pack is pitch for clockwise spin , when i install it the way you say the prop pushes the wrong way ,,, not sure what to do
I have a question Josh on the video 10:04, you mentioned that the motor for the Alpha should spin CCW. On 1:34:12, You also installed the props with the letters pointing to the back of the plane. Wouldn't that make the plane go backward? The spoon or the scoop of the prop is facing to the back of the plane?
I don't know why, but I find watching these FT build videos to be very cathartic.
Me too!!
wonderful way to support young innovative minds. must be very proud of all of them.

Built and did the maiden flight today! It flew great! Congrats to Mesa RC on an amazing job! Keep up the good work!

I glued the front of the canopy and made it hinge at start of cockpit, works well on bench now for electronics and test flights,

RC Tanks & Trucks 24/7
After years of lurking this is my first scratch build WOOT WOOT!
Update- immediately crashed and had to restart, managed to catch fire. Made for a cool picture though.

This is a nice project, I follow the story and see what a team can do together.
Great idea and a great scheme, I'm exclusively a quad flyer but I couldn't help but watch this whole thing!
Great work!!

This kit looks so good! It's about time I got one of these.
The cockpit fitting was nice too.

building this with my dad right now, probably going to fly it in a few days, but so far it looks great!
I could make the same pattern as his...
Thanks for the details...
Now I have the idea on making the FT ALPHA...
Hum You are my sunshine... Your a great teacher...
I wasnt expecting to these to fly so well actually. Gratz
It’s so cool that you can make this stuff with foam board
Wow,I said this before but this is amazing.
Great job and video, that's some detailed and tedious craftsmanship.
Amei cada segundo deste tutorial. Muito lindo o trabalho, e muito bom a didática. Parabéns a todos que participaram da qualidade do vídeo.

+flite test you should look at a z-bend tool, it makes control rods so much easier to get to the right lengths
Awesome episode cant wait to build one, ime so happy other kids are so passionate about aviation hopefully something similar will happen in the UK
Wow that is cool I love your builds
I cry a little inside, knowing I'll be unable to afford the hobby. But keep up the good content

Bloody Pinata Or download the free plans and buy cheap $5 foam board. I with you, it's an expressive hobby.
Check the early 'swappables' build articles, they list some cheap chinese hardware you can use to get started with

Awesome video. Thanks for the priceless information
at 1 hr in u could use just the locking mech cut off of another ziptie to secure the anti deflection
Great idea and badass design :)
Jet Lag I swear ive seen you somewhere before...
Jet Lag based off the F-22 Raptor
Great work guys. Thanks for the inspiration. Fantastic to see young generation to join the hobby.
I printed the plans and I built it from cardboard and its awsome!!
Did it fly ?
Share pdf plan link plz
This is awesome, I'm going to help my 8 year old son build it!
Thanks and great build video, but it has to be noted you show to make the motor spin counter clockwise at the start. That is backwards with an F pack. I was lucky I could reach the wires and swap them, but mine needs to spin clockwise to push.
This design is really beautiful. Props for the team that designed these. Well done!
This video was perfect, great job. Amazing Kit.
Dude! You're kind of like the Bob Ross of foam board aircraft.
Where the band meets the rear of the wing id reccomend maybe an ice lolly stick on each side to protect the foam from crushing
I pray for you all always thank you for all you do!
Wow those kids are amazing
You guys should do some of the old stuff, like bomb drops, and parachute safety stuff. Just a suggestion.
nice job guys
This looks like my next build
Are you made those kids? This is amazing and a perfect start into the rc flight hobby
I would love to see F-117 please. This building method will be suitable for this stealth figther diy kit.
Muy bueno este modelo. gracias
great job

how do we charge back the battery?
which charger do we use @fliteTest
Pusher propeller is different than puller?
Also is it important if its CW or CCW engine?
I must say that is pretty epic!
Wow the is a awesome plain to built
Your so good at score cutting lol

If I am adding a fc with inav what would this plane be considered.. delta wing, flying wing?
awesome guys! thumbs up guys
Love it
I evny laser cutters. Like when you scratch build with not cut out things, its hard to get sharp angles and such.
Very Nice Like the Video

Amazing
You did well work but
We don't have any drawing also nither dimensions
I am waiting
Hi. What is the maximum Weight of Battery for this plane?
And how many grams should be weight of plane? Maximum?
fatih uslu visit flitetest.com you can find the plane plan they issue all info including kit for it and a PDF you could print and make parts easily
Thank you for this video, today was a really depressing day for me. Someone at my school committed suicide and this video helped cheer me up.
nice.....

Good
Great! Thank you!
Outstanding!!!
Wow! A pice of flying art :)
I'm looking forward to a commercial airline because I love them like a airbus A388
I wish the crappy foam we get down here (Australia) would peel away as easily and cleanly as yours does.
Super
Josh, your fingernails are so lovely now. Them jokers use to look like they were manicured with a dull, angry chainsaw.
what battery have you used in this video? i noticed it was different to the one you sell with the plane.
hi guys I'm farley new to flying rc and i have the apprentice s. Its awesome but I've also got two other planes that are really nice and is like to keep them that way. my question is can i buy the"safe system" and put it in my other two planes.

like motor,ESC,etc
all of the things please
F111 Aardvark swing wing that looks 60's.
It looks cool
Science Man yes it dose
should they make it
Science Man definitely
does the kit come with a TX/RX
I'm still waiting for them to have a A1 Skyraider build
It’s funny the black sticker that goes on the cockpit looks kinda like a jet itself
Hi! The motor should actually be spinning clockwise, correct?
Greg Cotten hi lmao
gr8t job 😲😲😱😮
Is it okay if I just buy the plane without the added flight bits, just so I can have a cool model to jack around with however I want?
I have a Hyperlite 2205 2533kv motor. Will that work too? Can I also use my own ESCs?
Mmm can I bougth one of thoose planes? Because am starting to get in this but i need a plane that is not that expensive but i needed one more slow than that one? Plsss
Bro I don't know what print out should I take all in one, tiled or full size
in this video you say to make sure the motor is spinning counter clockwise , my issue is the prop gf 6030 that come with the f pack is pitch for clockwise spin , when i install it the way you say the prop pushes the wrong way ,,, not sure what to do
Me:
-Intalls Halbach Motors and 4-blade Fan
-Installs BB guns that shoots midair(similar to one of their old video)
i want to see you use ducked fans on models like this so it brings more realism.
I noticed this as well. The kit does come with CCW props, but if you install them in the push direction they would have to spin CW to fly forward.
Still waiting for EU related ordering, been several years again now.
