Unfortunally i build a class A room heater to extract 20w (non rms) from it, and worked pretty well actually... but now i'm a coplete AB addict. I think you should give a try. *dont forget the damn MJE as approach... please.*
For power amplifiers Class-AB and Class-D are the defacto standard, but for small stuff like this a Class-A can be quite enjoyable and won't waste too much power.
