- A Video showing various engines tackling the infamous engine hill at Porthtowan, Cornwall. This road run happens every 5 years as a way to remember Alan Thomas who helped make the west of England steam engine society (weses) and the Cornish Steam & Country Fair grow its popularity and success. The road run itself consists of 17 miles of country roads from Chacewater to Stithians showground with engine hill being the highlight for not only the engine owners but for the enthusiast and for those who just want to see a spectacular event. One stand out highlight of this road run was three Burrells, 3903 'Excelsior', 3937 'Janet' and 3919 'Susie' hauling a 17 tonne stationary engine house beam up engine hill.
Nice old machine's
The drivers of the cars have so much patience. Here in America people would losing their minds...great video!
scott Ross, you’d be surprised
THEY HAVE NO CHOICE THOSE GUYS DESERVE AND GET RESPECT.
Bloody brilliant, watching & hearing those engines working coming up the hill gave me goose pimples. Thank you for posting.
Goose pimples HAHAHAHA
Thank you for posting this, so soothing to listen to steam tractors. And such power they still have. And those mini's are great works of art in my book. Thanks again.
James Hart true
Thankyou for including the Miniatures

Sitting around looking important, every now and then a little thrill.
Well done to those miniatures for making it! That must be a real challenge for the boilers. I love that miniature heavy haulage convoy.
Beautiful!
magic great video
Traction engines are amazing machines
Wonderful!!!!Greetings from Veneto!!!
Es una maravilla como estan cuidados estas piezas de museo privadas Enhorabuena
Eu sempre amei os clássicos. 😃
all those mini mis @ 0:01 thanks for sharing.
Tolles Video!!!!!
That Marshall roller at the beginning is beautiful. Those rollers must have virtually zero grip on wet roads.
4:30 カッコイイ!! 素晴らしいデザイン!!
Hi lovely exhaust bark on the Burrell Roller
great vid !!
engines very reliable in those days.
Sooooooooooooooooooooooooper
That section of road must be nice and flat now
Great video. You caught a UFO at 0:56 just above the tractor. Very very fast
Am I the only one that saw the UFO at 0:56 above the tractor? It's very fast so look careful
Gene Fort It was a bird
Shane's Trains57
A bird. Yeah right or maybe swamp gas or weather balloon
That was a fly, flying right in front of the lense.
Max Davies guess you don’t know how to stop the video at the right time to get a good view of the UFO. That’s a funny reply
Why on earth was that one car allowed to block their lane at the top of the hill???
fantastic real magic
Классно!!!👍👍👍
How many shows has that engine beam at 15:30 been to? Just about every time I watch some British steam rally video I see it.
Old Fred Dibnah would have this event, and maybe entered his own one. three traction engines three trailers = steam road train at aprox 15m in video.
feel like singing an american folk song called , she will be coming around the mountain when she comes . she willbe coming round the mouain when she comes ,,,
Excuse me, but I'd like to know who the idiots are that parked their cars in the road, blocking traffic both directions. Despite low traffic volume they could have caused a major wreck.
As to who were parked in the lay by, i am unaware of, but yes they couldve parked somewhere else where they weren't blocking some of the road, however as to limited parking in the area, many who came to watch had to find the smallest of spaces as to which park their car in.
+Burly Boy Ok, I was cross. But if you look you can see they are parked two abreast and some of the steamers had to stop and wait for oncoming traffic to clear before going on.
+bitsnpieces11 The people strolling down the road on the curve with their backs to oncoming traffic do make one go :-/ ; a bit, to be sure. I think it was them that were causing an obstruction.
And the old feller at 7:30 who went strolling in front of the camera, standing in the road, wondered if he might stroll across the road right in front of the oncoming engine, but decided not to ... *rolls eyes*
Habt ihr schon gemerkt Wir sind in Deutschland. ?????
1:00 it sounds so Aggressive
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
11:47 Its Gorge the steam roller. Lol
Is it me, or does the roller at 16:06 sound like a gasoline motored tractor.
Not certain, but I think that is because that model has twin cylinders (one on each side). Since each cylinder delivers two power strokes per revolution, it is the equivalent of an 8 cylinder 4 cycle engine. (Each cylinder on a 4 cycle only delivers power every other revolution.)
Ahh I see. Thanks for the info.
Plus the fact it's running very fast just like petrol engines.
that piston is WAY too close to the driver lol I mean most of them have it pretty close but in this one holy shit it must have claimed some limb in it's lifetime
the roller at 24:06 sounds like a wilesco
It actually does.
