    I really wish that more interviews with star athletes were like this...where you see more of who they are as a person. That is a part of the whole story I think. Keely is such a class person and she seems humble and down to earth in a genuine way. She is obviously a top talent in the world. Plus you can tell she loves to laugh. We all wish her all the success in the world. Kudos to you Trackstaa for pulling off such a unique great interview.

    What a smashing interview.
    I laughed when Keeley said she was an open book, and indeed she is very open.
    She seems to have her feet firmly planted on the ground while taking care of business, but still retains a girlish charm which belies that steely competitive determination.
    She doesn't seem to be over invested in her running career, which is far the best attitude to take, it's not the be all and end all of everything. Many good athletes get burned out due to over investing.
    I can see Keeley running for the next ten years, and i hope she does.
    The most pleasing thing she said was, she would like to have a family. I hope she does.

    I think she's spot on about how the sport needs rivalries, even if they are a little bit "engineered" like boxing etc. I used to love the Coe vs Ovett stuff as it added that extra bit of spice that gets people interested who otherwise might not watch.

    • @Trackstaa_
      @Trackstaa_  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. I think athletes may be scared because of the backlash most traditional fans would give. And I guess it’s hard because if you talk trash and then do bad it’s quite embarrassing

    TOP athlete, great to hear her speak so honestly, great easy going interview! rather than just the technical blurb! Side note...Nice hair!, but I've always wondered if having long hair is a performance negative? where at the very pinnacle, those small margins are maybe huge??? ..

    • @Trackstaa_
      @Trackstaa_  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks, we try to add some different questions so its not just the same runners get asked all the time. I'd say with how light hair is, it'll be such a tiny marginal change. and you know what they say. Look good, feel good. So if you're feeling good you're probably running better

    Comparing her 80k prize money for a sub-2-minute race to a Grand Slam win is ridiculous considering players play hours upon hours of tennis over two weeks. In relation, that Diamond League prize money is plenty.

  • @weljenks
    @weljenks ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think this is Keely's year. She's ready to drop a 1:54 at least. I get the feeling Mu's new coach may have messed with her 800 readiness by mixing in 1500 training when that's not where she should be concentrating. He doesn't want her challenging Sydney apparently in the 400 and that may hurt her foot speed.

    this seems like more of flirtatious chat and a waste of time than an interview of a great runner...How does she train, what does she think of her competition, what races are next, what kind of sponsorships, how does she see her future in the sport????????????

    • @keepingupwithkempson

      Fair giving feedback, it’s always welcomed. If you’re after info around an athletes training, Google it or head over to LetsRun, there’s enough of that out there already that I’m not interested in talking about it on the show. I would say it’s a good rapport rather than flirting, showcasing that the guest is comfortable with the conversation. Questions around her competition, irrelevant for our show, watch her post race interviews in the media zone for that chat.
      Again, thank you for the feedback and desires but it might not be the show for you if you’re after that type of content.

      @@shangrila73eldorado that’s your opinion which is totally warranted. I try and ask the questions that maybe aren’t so common rather than the standard from what we’re used to on interviews in the sport. Plus the feedback from Nike and overall has been positive but I’ll make sure to take the feedback on board for the future 🫱🏻‍🫲🏾

      @@keepingupwithkempson I wish you the best. You're a good sport. In her exit interview after Paris, Hodgkinson said her training was making her exhausted all the time but it was paying off (1:55 opener!). I was really looking for how that training looked. No one really knows. There's a huge question now about lactate threshold training and whether it is bloody voodoo LOL LetsRun is a lot of guys who aren't pros pontificating about running and take a long time to get to the point. Just one other thing, if I may: track isn't boring. Biggest problem I see is that the average track fan has no idea when races are coming or what the results were. I can look up the score of a football game in less than 30 secs. For track results, I sometimes have to look 10-15 mins and often not even find anything. As an insider with access to lots of info, you might not realize how bad publicity is for the fan.

      @@shangrila73eldorado There are a few videos on YT about her training, no pro is going to give you a day by day month by month outline of their training, as far as what meets she is going to run that is up to her and her coach the Diamond League entries are posted a week before the meet.
