Came to post this. There’s a bunch of decisions to be made implementing this: are the enemies wc3 factions? If not, does everything use sc2 armor mechanics or wc3 armor and weapon types? And is the combat slower and methodical like in this video or do things die quickly like sc2? It would be difficult to make something that felt like an actual merger of the two games.
@@sintanan469 Not "impossible" but keep in mind the "Warcraft 3 in Starcraft 2's engine" mod already existed and was made by Blizzard. All the "custom race" stuff, sure it might take a year or two but I can at least see how it would be done. But making a campaign swap that's not just 26 missions of "senile Azeroth" memes? I honestly have no idea how to tackle that without recording new voice lines.
im pretty sure i would never have gotten into RTS games at all if it werent for WC3 specifically. the strong feeling of responsibility i had pretty much prevented me from playing them in general. the thought of any unit under my responsibility dying was capable of crushing my tiny little heart. WC3 slower attacks, large health pools and quick access to healing allowed me to get almost all the way through the campaigns without losing a single unit. even that last orc mission, i managed to build so many watchtowers that they could kill an infernal without it getting a single hit off in return. while i can now stand losing a couple units, i still love the slower, more deliberate and tactical aspects of RTS... and my old passion of building an impenetrable defensive nest is a low burning but persistent flame, feed by just the right game at just the right time.
This is honestly the best way to play the wc3 campaign right now. So good. It's incredible. The fact that ghouls dont get caught by f2 if they're farming lumber... And like.. Transport and observer units don't get pulled in. It almost feels better to play than starcraft 2
People: "I don't understand, Arthas was such a great, righteous man and paladin, why would he kill his own father, and become the king of a massive undead army?" Arthas: (Literally tries to kill a child in the first mission of the WC3 Human Campaign.)
I just played through the prologue campaign and I loved it! - I only recall 2 missions actually existing in that campaign when I played it through about 10 years ago...there are now 5 missions. So that's 3 brand new mission to me! Very very nice! I look forward to Christmas Eve, and i'll play the Human Campaign then!
Hey @GaintGrantGames, Insanemonster has released the full campaign for Re-reforged for the human campaign! Would you do a playthrough of it? Also, side thing, ghosts are meant to only at the graveyard between midnight and 1am, and you went at 3am, so idk if they are in or not
Final Orc mission, it has so many awesome things going for it: 1) A super scary and competent enemy 2) An ally who is actually strong and helpful 3) A map and mission design where-- Whoops I finished the mission already.
ROC human №5 mission. The one where you need to defend the village for 30 mins. You can win this mission by killing all enemy bases. This makes mission much more interesting and challenging in a good way. Pushing enemy base is a long process. Enemyes produse units endlessly and they specificly target your mortar teams! The only unit who can kill buildings. And you lack defencive tools. You only melee unit is a useless footman and healers runs out of mana without Jaina. Process of keeping mortar teams alive reqire a lot of planning, micro and resets. I love this mission so much
final blood elf mission was a blast when i was a kid, i had soo much fun playing it, exploring dangerous dungeons and having to play at two different sides of the map was pure fun at the times :D
@@GiantGrantGamesArchives The computer allies were far more useful in Warcraft 3 if I recall correctly. I wonder why they took such a nosedive in Starcraft 2.
I liked the final elf mission in WC3. Holding the line against the burning legion with humans, orcs, and night elves all working together to save the world just felt epic.
Ok, this looks great. I think that the voices are a bit too quite but that are most likely just Grants settings. Also the two children Grant and Jay were called Blake and Ryan in the original.
I'm looking forward to the better macro - I can have a hotkey with like 12 barracks in it and spam out 12 footmen at a time...pretty sure I could never do that before!
Everything seems to have the attack damage of an un-upgraded zergling, but the health of an aberration, at least. Fights seem to last a lot longer than I expected, things just die a lot slower in warcraft, I guess? Would it be possible to have a mod option for everything to have 50% health. including all my stuff and my heroes, so it'd be balanced still, but a bit faster? I'm so pleased with the movement speed though! it's really nice! Hope it doesn't cause ranged units like archers to be underpowered, though.
It has been a while since I played Warcraft, but I do recall fights being slower more drawn-out affairs. Like Grant said, it can be difficult to go back to Warcraft 3 after playing Starcraft 2 as it is much slower-paced.
@@toddclawson3619 I really like the items that heroes hold & the heroes levelling up and getting better stats and learning new abilities. I would love to play protoss but with a 'High Templar Hero' who gets feedback level 1,2,&3. Psi storm, level 1,2,&3 (maybe as it upgrades you have higher damage and a wider area of effect) Something else as well, maybe a passive shield regeneration buff to nearby units. (level 1,2,3) - and: It's Level 6 ultimate ability could be Archon Morph for a moderate time duration. Nice!
@@toddclawson3619 Some of the items you find could even grant single uses of other unit abilities. Maybe 'Amulet of Blinking: 3 charges' You click it and your hero can blink once, and it depletes a charge from the amulet. Or something like 'Shield Capacitor, Passive bonus of +50 shields while equipped'
OG WC3 is _insanely_ slow, and I don't mean the sim speed which is also slow. If you compare the averages for the T1 units they have 3x as much health per food, only 60% of the dps per food and 30% longer weapon cooldowns which can make it feel even slower. Together these numbers imply an F2A battle between T1 units should last roughly *FIVE TIMES* as long in WC3 compared to SC2 if the game speed is the same. Halving HP will absolutely wreck any semblance of balance though. Hero spells will start oneshotting stronger units making battles extremely swingy (and RNG crapshoots if the AI has viable spells e.g. the liches in March of the Scourge and Shores of Northrend). Mortar Teams would be gods. Low HP melee units like Footmen and Skeletons become useless where in vanilla they can actually take a volley and close into melee. If this is the kind of gameplay you like play WoL and the Terran Edition campaigns and don't go out of your way to avoid marine+tank comps.
Unsure if it was missed but I like the fact that same items stacks, as there was 2xMana Potions I always hated the fact that I had to use an item to pick up the same type again. I will look at this new mod.
I wonder how easy it would be, since synergy has made this, to port over/replicate the WC3 co-op campaign people made a while back Because I had great fun playing that with my bro but the codes were janky as fuck
The only thing this mod is holding me back at the moment is the blue tint over the map, WC3 is very bright, and having this dark tonne takes from the original. Besides that, i would call this the real Definitive Version
Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't we now have a fight between StarCraft and Warcraft units if they were balanced to be around similar strengths? I'd LOVE to see a wings of liberty campaign but as the humans or the undead. I don't see why it couldn't happen, right?
What I really want is StarCraft 2 style heroes that can hold items upgrade like they do it Warcraft 3. The only one we actually get like that is Dehaka on Co-op commanders.
My only complaint with this compared to the reforged is the lack of other localisations (not that I can't understand English but unfortunately I'm among a lot of people who can't and would really by interested by this). Otherwise it looks AWESOME.
As a W3 player I can say that even if this looks really good a really important part of W3 is the positioning of the units. So the movement is supposed to be that clunky so you can "imprisoned" an enemy unit with one or two units. That's even an strategy in multiplayer, if you take that out you kill an entire strategy, also the idea of using only a 12 group hotkey promotes the squad gameplay and micromanagent of units instead of a F2 + A click gameplay.
That’s actually incorrect about the pathing and unit trapping. That wasn’t a intended mechanic, they just didn’t have a efficient engine compared to sc2. So pvp games and pro games started to exploit unit trapping. Similar to exp stealing or players kills their own units to not give exp is also a unintended mechanic. Designer Dave who worked on wc3 said it himself in a q&a.
This is what reforged should have been. This is what i pictured it to be. I wanted WC3 but for it to act and play my starcraft. Imagine how amazing games would be to watch
I am gonna be odd one out, an aspect I liked about Warcraft 3 reforged is the night elve's defense units getting a serious fix which was a glaring aspect of reign of chaos but one aspect I cannot look over is the game was outsourced and the shade unit. Ok one, its suppose to be a ghost or some sort, it looks like it on the map yes but its model in reforged looks less like a ghost and not anything faithful to the original.
Warcraft Reforged changed only the things people didn't want changed, and charged people for the privilege. Azeroth Reborn is free and is changing things to improve quality of life... and to add a very necessary Grant child for Grant to strike down for the good of the realm.

I honestly have no idea how to tackle that without recording new voice lines.
Hoping for the day when Grant plays some Warcraft 3 custom campaigns. W3 Alternate would be a good place to start.
12:29 don't you dare think we didn't see you mimic the ridiculous mouth movement of the knight
The giant child named Grant at 3:30 is amazing.
I was expecting the Footmen going "Raider mod" on some Orcish holostatues, but that's good too
So smooth, I can't believe it's not StarCraft
To add insult to injury, this version also have much more appealing animation than Reforged IMO.
im pretty sure i would never have gotten into RTS games at all if it werent for WC3 specifically.
the strong feeling of responsibility i had pretty much prevented me from playing them in general. the thought of any unit under my responsibility dying was capable of crushing my tiny little heart.
People: "I don't understand, Arthas was such a great, righteous man and paladin, why would he kill his own father, and become the king of a massive undead army?"
Arthas: (Literally tries to kill a child in the first mission of the WC3 Human Campaign.)
I wish synergy, jayborino and giantgrant plays the trio game again. Best Collab.
The last 3 missions are from the wc3 demo disc. They were hidden in the offline custom games folder. It’s how thrall met the trolls.
alternate title: Warcraft 3: ACTUALLY Reforged
If you're wondering about the damage it's because Grunts have more health than Battlecrusiers.
the fact you werent using the health and mana potion were tilting the living hell out of me lol
Very cool
Thanks Synergy, thanks 4 years old Grant!
Hey @GaintGrantGames, Insanemonster has released the full campaign for Re-reforged for the human campaign! Would you do a playthrough of it?
Also, side thing, ghosts are meant to only at the graveyard between midnight and 1am, and you went at 3am, so idk if they are in or not
I need to start spreading this video to everyone
Guys what is your favourite wc3/frozen campaign mission and why?
Final Orc mission, it has so many awesome things going for it:
1) A super scary and competent enemy
2) An ally who is actually strong and helpful
3) A map and mission design where-- Whoops I finished the mission already.
8:19 “Somebody call for an exterminator?”
The names of the villagers were often the names of friends and family of the map creators, otherwise, there was no point in naming them.
Ok, this looks great. I think that the voices are a bit too quite but that are most likely just Grants settings. Also the two children Grant and Jay were called Blake and Ryan in the original.
another benefit is f2 button access as well as being able to command WAY more units in 1 group
also we need a co-op version of this too
you can select more than 12 units at once lets goooooo
I'm looking forward to the better macro - I can have a hotkey with like 12 barracks in it and spam out 12 footmen at a time...pretty sure I could never do that before!
8:43 Ghost of Grant says, 'Hello'. :P
WOOOOOO the CAMPAIGN continues! Reborn-forge-birth!
It is first chapter of Reign of Chaos and Arthas already descending into madness as he kills Grant under the influence of Grant TT
Imagine Dota 1 going back to life in Starcraft 2. Full circle!
I will look at this new mod.
imma tell my kids this was reforged
I wonder how easy it would be, since synergy has made this, to port over/replicate the WC3 co-op campaign people made a while back
Because I had great fun playing that with my bro but the codes were janky as fuck
In WC3, you rarely had more than 24 fighting units anyway so imo the 12 cap wasn't an issue. Now having so few units arguably was...
Grant:" OMG is he lvl 9?" I: "No grant that is a 6 if i remember numbers correctly:"
The only thing this mod is holding me back at the moment is the blue tint over the map, WC3 is very bright, and having this dark tonne takes from the original.
Besides that, i would call this the real Definitive Version
Thank you so much for doing this.
I love it
Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't we now have a fight between StarCraft and Warcraft units if they were balanced to be around similar strengths? I'd LOVE to see a wings of liberty campaign but as the humans or the undead. I don't see why it couldn't happen, right?
I mean, at that point it's just Stormgate
Their models are still quite chunky and attacks are rather slow. Can you imagine the zerglings againt footmen.
What I really want is StarCraft 2 style heroes that can hold items upgrade like they do it Warcraft 3. The only one we actually get like that is Dehaka on Co-op commanders.
@@Supergoon1989 Orb of Terrazine: it won't let you attack flying units but it sure will get you high.
Is there any hope to see reforged models in SC2 engine ? 🙈
Aw yes, here we go again! I'm pumped!
Ah yes. The Glowing weapons. The voice acting. It's how it should be. Needs more neon grass though for that authentic experience. ;D
Yess! I'm going to make good use of this
You can see the ghost in the cemetary only if you have killed villiagers
I need to try Azeroth Reborn. Thanks mate
My only complaint with this compared to the reforged is the lack of other localisations (not that I can't understand English but unfortunately I'm among a lot of people who can't and would really by interested by this). Otherwise it looks AWESOME.
you will never be a woman
@@redcrown5154 Too late, I already am, but thanks for your concern
9:00 finally after 2 years the villager is safe! Does that mean we will get a new deathless?
I love that the game on the description is Warcraft 3 and not SC2 😅😂
Howdy boys I'm Arthas Menethil, Prince of these parts.
Ugh this looks SO GOOD. I'm especially interested in the speed increase - I love Warcraft 3, but the slowness gets to me sometimes.
I've been waiting for this
Those goggly eyes on Arthas though.
Even though this looks better. I really.. really like the reforge models.
"Welcome to our village!"
*hammer whack*
Typical adventurer 🤣
If only starcraft 2 worked in widescreen id play this
This is what reforged should have been.
