- In this video you will see and hear my friends BMW M3 E46 making some incredible sounds! Because of the carbon fiber CSL airbox/intake, it has induction sounds like you have never heard before... even louder than the custom exhaust it has! It is one of the cleanest E46 M3's you will ever see with a ton of tasteful modifications. Some include, Carbon Fiber CSL airbox, BBS RC300/301 wheels, 200cell HJS cats and custom muffler, BMW performance brakes 354mm CSL brakes, CSL original front bumper and vendors, st xta suspension set up perfectly for the Nurburgring Nordschleife by Schirmer Motorsport, Recaro Pole Position, Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tires, modified Gearbox software and CSL rear diffuser & CSL trunk. The car now makes 374HP and 365nm of torque (confirmed on dyno).

This is how it was meant to be. Period. This is when you have accomplished 95% of the achievements and you add this airbox to complete the symphony. This sound is what makes a guy give an inanimate object life and a name.
Screw all those fake sound thru speaker turbocharged crap cars they make today, this was M at the top of their game

It's the induction noise more than the exhaust that you're hearing. A lot more induction noise makes it into the cabin than exhaust with an E46 M3. The car sounds best when you're sitting in the front seats, or when it's coming towards you under acceleration.
@@ThrowingItAway this man speaks truth, when you are driving intake noise is just as important (if not more) as exhaust.
Thats why (modern) turbo cars dont sound as good, turbos get rid of that glorious intake noise

Totally. Even my car which has stock airbox sounds louder then the exahust.. Ive driven a bmw z4m, it has the same s54 as the m3. Although detuned to 300bhp.. Let me tell you, its a huge difference between them two when it comes to engine cabin sound.
And its mainly do to the fact that the s54 found in the z4m is straight flushed within the firewall as opposed to the e46 m3 which the engine is merge about probably half a foot within the firewall. Which makes for a really sweet induction sound.

This is so magnificent. Just keep on listening to it on loop. I have an Eventuri Intake on my e46 M3 which sounds great but this sound takes it to the next universe. Even better than the MS intake induction on my e90 M3 and that is pretty amazing. Best induction sound on any car ever! Period! I just have to subscribe to this channel ! Alpha N tune or CSL DME ? Where was the mic placed?

Where you running an Alpha N tune with IAT sensor, or an CSL ECU with a MAP sensor?
Incredible. I keep watching over & over. Was the external mic placed under the hood or just on the windshield?
My M140i is very likely going to beat the CSL in most power related challenges just because it has endless torque but the sound of the CSL will always beat it.

Can someone who is super BMW savvy explain to me how the transmission in these sounds (sounds, hear me out ..) so much like a manual??
The SMG transmission is basically a robotised manual. It’s actually the exact same box as the manual but with added parts to make it an ‘automatic’

Get the csl software update loaded into the car, it makes a massive difference. Best thing I ever did to mine

Very clean but had to lol at "tasteful mods" when 24s into the video it has a tow strap on the front bumper. Seriously? Unless he tracks it every weekend, what's that POS for?

@@St4ked the only time you need that is when you track the car, in case you need to get pulled off the course quickly. So if you track your car very regularly and can't be bothered to remove the cap and strap, maybe, but most people stick bright red/yellow tow eyes/straps up front in an effort to say "look at me I go to tracks like a race car driver" but everyone thinks "No. No you don't. You've never used or have a need for that. Just stop."

@@krautworks e46 m3 csl hat serie ne carbon airbox.. meine airbox hat der TÜV Rheinland ohne mit der Wimper zu zucken eingetragen. Musst halt nur ne gute kaufen entweder OEM csl 6000 Euro.. oder karbonius , Evolve. Für ca.2800 könnte nur sein weil man für die airbox Software brauch, das man den luftmassenmesser austragen muss weil der raus fliegt je nach Prüfer
