Why Dogs Circle Before They Poop!

My "normal' dogs all circled, never noticed what direction. My "crazy'' fog never circled. Instead, he'd sniff out the perfect spot, backed up to a fence or tree, then sprinted quickly away; he always looked annoyed when I dragged him back to pick up the poop.
That electro-magnetic directional theory is wild. I get it if you're flying north or south but pooping?!🤨

You mussed one reason. To check for dangers. Snakes for instance.
