Where are you going to stay ( did you stay ) in Kyoto? ① Kyoto Station ②Gion, Higashiyama ③Kawaramachi ④City Center ⑤ Arashiyama ⑥Other areas
Please share your hotel experience in Kyoto. :)
@@tokyokenchan I have stayed near the Hachijo exit, 5 min walk...very convenient and there's lots of other hotels for any budget. There's a Don Quijote and inexpensive restaurants in the Asty Road arcade area of Hachijo exit. Also stayed at Hilton Garden Inn (Karasuma/Shijo) and took bus from there to various sites.
I quite like the Gion area but it can be quite busy
Excellent presentation for the independent traveler. This knowledge aids in making the best choices for an enjoyable visit
Thank you so much for your kind support Kevin san Dale san! I saw some Internet information that they didn't undrestand what are good about Kyoto after staying around the station, so I hope this video was useful for visitors visiting for the first time. :) I really appreciate your support again .
Very informative! Thank you for the hotel suggestions. I have stayed north, south of Kyoto Station and at the Granvia inside the station. The station is like a small city itself but you're correct in saying it's not traditional Kyoto. I like exploring narrow streets in Gion and along the Kamo river. To me Kyoto is like an elegant older sister while Osaka is like the lively boisterous younger sibling, both are wonderful.
Thank you for watching and your message! I can imagine Kyoto station is very convenient. I'd like to stay near the Hachijo exit one time. That's very interesting to hear the comparison. It's great Kyoto and Osaka are so close each other but so differnet. ✨ :)
From Lebanon, Tennessee USA. We really look forward to visiting your country soon. Thank you for a really great and informative channel sir!
Thank you very much for watching and your kind words from Tennessee! I wish you the best trip to Japan. :)
More of Kyoto thank you super much where I also really want to check out always besides the other ones I always mention!! 🤩🤩🤩 I’ll be sure to keep this in mind new one for yours in mind for when come here hopefully soon!! 🤝🤝🤝
Great guide video as always Kenchan!
Thank you for watching always Ryuga san! I really appreciate it. :)
I have been in Kyoto exactly one year ago. It is nice to see all those beautiful places again and remember that you have been there :). I also stayed in Kawaramachi, in Sotetsu Fresa Inn hotel, very satisfied.
Thanks for a great video.
Thank you so much for watching. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your stay in Kawaramachi. :)
Thank you Kenchan a great and informative video as usual! We stayed in one of the other Stay Sakura hotels just south of the station, good quality hotel that was only 5 or so minutes from the station. So convenient for getting around Kyoto and making day trips!
Thank you Matt san. Oh you stayed at Stay Sakura! I booked in the last minutes so I wasn't expecting much, but they were great. Very easy system. I can imagine being near Kyoto station makes it very easy to make day trips from Kyoto. I'd like to try hotels near Kyoto station someday. :)
@@tokyokenchan It was a great base for us to visit Universal studios and Nara. And I am a big fan of all things trains, so just up the line from the Kyoto Train museum.
I've stayed in Kyoto twice, for a total of 10 days. Lovely city, easy to get around. We were lucky to visit in November 2022 when Japan reopened. We hardly saw any other tourists and had places like Fushimi Inari, Philosophers Path and Otagi Nenbutsu-ji temple to ourselves. Very grateful for seeing it almost empty, unlike today's over tourism.
Thank you for watching. Wow 10 days. Yes, you've visited here several times so you might know but it changed a lot from around that time. :)
I remember watching this video. I have cousins in Kyoto so I must go and stay there on my next trip. Arigato for this nice review of Kyoto!
Thank you Lilly san for using so many Kenny icons!! 😄 Yes I used some footage from past videos so I have to go back to Kyoto again. ^^; Sounds great you have cousins there. It's such a beautiful and fun place. :)
Thank you for sharing this video. I will use this as a future reference. Thank you again
Thank you Dan san! I hope you enjoy your next stay in Kyoto. :)
Very helpful video. I’ll have to check into that hotel and Shinkansen package deal when I book my trip. Thank you!
Thank you for watching! I hope you can find a great deal. :)
Thanks. Having stayed in kyoto more than 5 times in different area, i would say they are all ok as long as you are near a station.
Have done it from Kyoto station, gojo area, kawaramachi, gion side . It is fine if you do it via osaka but again ensure it is near a station. For sakura, and autumn, it is better to be in Kyoto as there are a lot of night illumination that are amazing.
Kyoto's sight, temples and garden are quite spaced out so no matter where you stay, you will still need to travel hence why I am fine as long as it is near a station.
Totally agree that morning walks to a lot of the temples are the best! So are the night walks!
Thank you for sharing all the tips to other travelers going to Kyoto. I agree being close to the station is the most important point when choosing hotels. :)
Good information! Thanks 😊
Thank you for watching!
Thank you Kenchan, your videos are the most helpful videos for Japan travel! I plan to stay near Kitaoji station in Kyoto.
I understand it is a bit fat from the centre but it seems like it has "Kyoto atmosphere". Do you know anything about Kitaoji?
Thank you for watching and your kind message. I haven't got off at the station but that sounds like a nice area near Kyoto botanic garden which I am planning to visit next time. I think it's a nice residential area.
Good morning Kenchan
Do you have any spots in Hiroshima and Fukuoka 😊
Cheers
Good morning! I've only been there once each but everything is close by in Fukuoka, so you are good as long as you are stayting near the areas like Tenjin and Hakata near stations. Hiroshima, it was convenient to stay in Kamiyacho to take trams, walk to busy areas like Okonomimura. I heard it's good near Hiroshima station too. :)

Thanks
From the Smart Ex site, can I get 2 tickets from Tokyo to Kyoto? I have my Suica card linked to Smart Ex. Do I need to pick up both tickets from the ticket machine?
For 2 travelers? In that case, you need to connect another reservation to another IC card of the 2nd person. You can get paper tickets at the machine too. 👍
Where to find a ryoukan experience in cheaper and less touristy city / town without requiring driving? Any suggestions?
Hi Kenchan
Can you help with some information please
I'm trying to reserve seats on YUFUIN NO MORI train
From Hakata to Yu fuin with a DEBIT CARD but keep getting rejected
QUESTION
ARE DEBIT CARDS ACCEPTED FOR PAYMENT
OR
IS IT ONLY CREDIT CARDS
appreciate If you have any info
Tks
Cheers
Hello ~. Are you looking at JR Kyushu site? It seems some sites don't work with debit card, but sometimes even credit cards are rejected. It seems the only way is to try different card.
