    All good ideas. You will eventually buy new 240/220v appliances like we did, such as a rice cooker, computers with chargers etc, and the boat had 240v Australian outlets. We had to get our son to send a care package with the plugs to change over from the Asian ones. You can buy them at Bunnings. We did the same with the alcohol, as well as taking a bulk supply of home made alcohol and flavourings. Bottles of wine would probably be better than casks, our last casks were off after 3 months in the heat. We spun our outboard prop at Manado, and luckily our "helper" took the prop overnight to Bitung to a business that was able to change the seal and fix it. Definitely a spare prop, as you could easily loose the whole prop.

      We're glad you enjoyed the video and really appreciate you taking the time to comment, particularly as we're obviously on the same wave length and sharing similar experiences. Bought new radios and appliances and now running out of the Australian plugs we brought with us - TICK. Bring a supply of home made alcohol and flavourings - TICK. Bring Bottles of wine not casks TICK. (Still a few left actually) We were going to repair the damaged prop but were able to get one brought in by a friend. Cheers R & K

    Loved the tips! I hadn’t thought about the trolley, spare prop, motorcycle license or something like Western Union. Some really good advice. Jay has his motorcycle license but I’ve been thinking of getting mine for ages and now you’ve made up my mind. Hopefully we’ll be out there cruising Indo ourselves in the not too distant future.

    Hi guys, love your channel. Had the same prop prob as you ,a quick but good fix is to put four screws through the shaft into the plastic and will last quite a while. Hope that helps a little.

    Hi Dream Time, just stumbled across your channel, thumbs up & subscriber now. We're heading off to Indo again soon, this time to the Raja Ampat, then on to the Philippines via Palau or Sulawesi. How are you finding Sulawesi as far as a safe cruising ground on the way to the Philippines? Which route would you recommend safety wise. It's a no brainer Sulawesi will be more scenic & easier day sailing. Guessing the n/e trades won't be a problem in that area. We usually sail 2 up & We're a 13.4mt Sailing cat. We've already been held up once at gun point in PNG so we're a bit gun shy. All good advice from already having sailed Indonesian waters, we can only mirror your sentiments. Sail safe, we've Gotcha Covered Ian & Margie

    • @Dreamtimesail
      @Dreamtimesail  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Ian, Thanks for coming onboard our channel with us. We are loving Sulawesi. The place is beautiful and uncrowded. We will have some very cool episodes from here coming out in the future. Other than our buddy boat, we have only seen three other cruising boats since February. The people have all been super friendly, helpful and generous and we have had absolutely no safety concerns other than the Mt Ruang volcano that started erupting just as we were getting into the north. As Karen is a severe asthmatic, we can't risk her being in volcanic ash so from the amazing Togian Islands we are now back tracking south rather than completing our planned circumnavigation across the top. Feel free to reach out via our Facebook if you'd like to chat further. Cheers R & K.

    • @Dreamtimesail
      @Dreamtimesail  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Ian. Karen is fine as long as we're careful of keeping her away from things that can trigger her asthma. From experience at Stromboli in the Med, volcanic ash is not good for her. Safe travels and let's hope we cross paths. Cheers!

    Regarding riding motorcycles. To comply with local laws in most places you will also need an International Drivers Permit (IDP) to accompany your motorcycle license. An IDP is available from your (Australian) state motoring body (NRMA?) for around $50 (last time I got one). That's good advice regarding checking your travel insurance policy as some will cover up to 250cc, some will cover less or not at all. If you're Australian and want to ride something bigger there is an "Adventure Pack" that will provide cover from Alliance or have a look at Global Nomads insurance if you're not Australian. And finally and very seriously, SE Asia is not the place to learn to ride a motorcycle. Don't become a Go-Fund-Me page.

    • @Dreamtimesail
      @Dreamtimesail  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      All very good points. Police have asked to see Rob's license however we've never been asked for an IDP up here so we tend not to carry it with us on bikes as it is just paper and will deteriorate. Good to have if crap hits fan though. Cheers R & K.

    I thought the only charges, when using your wise card at the ATM. Were the atm withdrawal fee, NO BS bank fee.

    • @Dreamtimesail
      @Dreamtimesail  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good pick up. We think you're right Daniel but the problem is still that you get multiple ATM charges because you need to make multiple transactions to get any decent amount of cash due to the tiny limits on the ATMs. Many are limited to just one or two million Rupiah ($100-200aud) We do have a Wise account but prefer to use Western Union whenever possible for the superior exchange rate and we can get as much cash as we need. Cheers R & K

      Must be all the healthy living and exercise. 😄Thanks for saying so but we have no scales onboard so we are honestly not sure about the weight loss. Thanks for all the nice words though. We really appreciate them and are so glad you're enjoying the shows. Cheers R & K

    Well done for mentioning Western Union, Money gram is another very similiar option. While riding motorbikes thoughout SE Asia these have, at times, been indespensable resources and have literally saved me from sleeping on the streets. Agencies for these services are prolific almost anywhere in Asia.

    • @Dreamtimesail

      Thanks so much for the comment. We have been very happy with Western Union and there exchange rate/ fees absolutely kill the banks. Cheers R & K.

    Can get get things like cauliflower and almonds readily in indo?

    • @Dreamtimesail
      @Dreamtimesail  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We manly shop in the local traditional markets and haven't seen cauliflower at all. We did come across almonds in a supermarket on Lombok that caters for westerners but they were waaay to expensive for us. Cashews are far more common and reasonably priced. Hope this helps. Cheers!

    Good tips. Be cautious, customs watch youtube too. When pronouncing Indonesian words remember: "u" is pronounced like "oo", "a" is like the "a" in part not the "a" in cat, "c" is pronounced like "ch"

      Glad you liked the video and thanks for taking the time to comment. It's very much appreciated. We are steadily trying to improve our Bahasa. We have increased our vocabulary significantly but there's a saying about old dogs and new tricks and it is a struggle so thanks for the tips. We spent a couple of weeks on Belitung and LOVED it. It will be a fair while before we get to editing that footage up though. Cheers R & K

    those rubber bushings on the prop....they're replaceable

    • @Dreamtimesail
      @Dreamtimesail  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the info. An Australian Mercury dealer told us they weren't and also that, at the time, Mercury also had nil stock of the props themselves. Fortunately we found the Prop Warehouse with aftermarket ones that were much cheaper anyway. For the price of the new prop we think it would probably hardly be worth trying to bond a new bush in anyway. Cheers R & K
