After our encounter with a reef on the island of Sumbawa, we’re very happy to be safely on a mooring in Medana Bay Marina on Lombok for a while. We enjoy some time off the boat exploring the local area, get a new bow cover made and Rob sits Marina owner, Peter Cranfield, for a very interesting chat about the history of Medana Bay Marina, and what the future may hold for Indonesia’s only dedicated yacht haul out and hardstand facility.

Hi guys, wow, all I can say is how fortunate is that you were not on a modern Bene or Jenneau, good boats but I suspect, no, I know they would have had severe damage from hitting the reef rather than just some antifoul missing.

I heard a yacht motor into a submerged rock while fishing nearby in our tender. What a racket! All sounds you would never want to hear from your yacht. I think a full keel old school build like yours, they didn't seem too concerned. Glad you got off wiser and not too battered.

Good tips. Be cautious, customs watch youtube too. When pronouncing Indonesian words remember: "u" is pronounced like "oo", "a" is like the "a" in part not the "a" in cat, "c" is pronounced like "ch"

We have increased our vocabulary significantly but there's a saying about old dogs and new tricks and it is a struggle so thanks for the tips. We spent a couple of weeks on Belitung and LOVED it. Just found out about your channel.. i'm subscribed! :) Awesome that you're exploring Indonesia, sooo many islands to visit.. Great episode, small suggestion: the background music is a bit too distracting while you're sailing (minute 10 onwards). Would be better if you either put the volume of music lower throughout, or if you're into giving it more editing time: lower music volume when there are conversations. Cheers from south of Bali..

We've reviewed the episode from the 10 minute mark and while the segment is intended to be part music clip of sailing and we did ditch the vocals and lower the instrumental under us speaking, we agree it needed to go lower still. It's all a learning process for us so we will work on it for future episodes. Having said that Ep 102 is already made and out to our Virtual Crew Members from Ko-Fi and Patreon before going public this Friday, so it may be 103 before you notice a difference.
