- Well, I FINALLY got round to re-visiting Pokemon Glitches and this time you won't be disappointed! Covering 16 Glitches from Red and Blue Versions there's plenty to keep you busy for sure!
There are hundreds more glitches to keep you going in these games, but showing them off could have given us a 2 or 3 hour episode, maybe more so I couldn't showcase them all... :( The explanations of the two big glitches are very simplified so you guys have a good basic understanding of why they happen, if you wanna learn more there are links here somewhere!
I'm aware that there are ways to finish the game in less than a minute of game time, I'm aware of most glitches, like arbitrary code execution too :) I watch a LOT of speedruns of these games because they're awesome to see and you learn a lot about how the games work, so just because they're not in the video doesn't mean I've missed them/ don't know about them XD

Can't imagine being that first kid to run into missingno having literally no idea what was going on lol.
The first time I discovered missingno was while playing yellow version.
I tried the escape battle glitch with different trainers to check which Pokémon I could get, and you know what happened ...
“Wait… I’ve gotten all 151 Pokémon! So… OHMYGOD I FOUND A NEW POKÉMON *AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA* ”
For the walk through walls glitch with the safari zone, you can have all pokemon in your party poisoned so they can faint. When you black out, you will be outside and can walk anywhere!

Actually, I think that trainer DOES mean feat (as in "that was quite a feat". Your feat was clearing nugget bridge, which they could see across the water.

'M is not the same as missingno. 'M is the true hexadecimal index no. 000 while missingno is a place holder for index numbers that were unused.

No 'M hexadecimal is FF which is the highest possible hexadecimal value for 2 digits and you can always find it because FF is the byte value that means end section and is after the last character of every name, which is always why you can find it. And I just realized how wrong I was. I just realized FF is for lvl 80 and there is also always a 00 value after the FF which is what causes the 'M
For the glitch where you evolve the Jigglypuff without the moonstone, I'm guessing when the battle ends the game checks if a pokemon is able to evolve (has a pokemon leveled up?), then checks if the condition to evolve it is met - since the hex value is shared between exeggutor and the moonstone, the game triggers the evolution, thinking one has been used. Memory manipulation is used alot in these games like that.
this is a channel with lots of potential. people love hearing either unused content of games, or glitches in games. so a collab with you and beta64 would be something of a gods work!

Very useful info. I like that you explain why the glitches happen, not just how to perform them. Coding is a mystery to me so I like to hear how glitches happen.

I found the Pokedoll glitch by accident as a kid, and I always assumed that the Cubone's Mother just imagined it was their child they had reunited with, and could then move on happily to the afterlife. Learning it was a glitch after all this time is crazy!

Interesting fact for the Mew glitch. There is a trainer in the gym with a shelder, It also has the right special stat to make mew appear. I always use him because he's a lot closer.

It's okay, that fact that you actually upload makes up for that. I really love your videos, I don't care how long they take you to make or how busy you are. it's just that TH-cam doesn't notify me for some reason. It's not just you, maybe it's because I'm subscribed to too many TH-camrs that some of them just don't appear.
Maybe that's the case :( Though, judging by the numbers not too many of you guys do get notified of the videos... 4200 views vs 20,000 subs? Doesn't add up ahhaha

As far as I remember there was an even easier way of dealing with the Ghosts on Lavender Tower:
Open your Pokémon status.
I've just researched about it and apparently, it'll only show the real sprite, not act as if you've actually used a Silph Scope, but still.... Allied with the Poké Doll, you don't need the Scope at all in RGBY.

Also... When you just save and leave it alone, the boy turns into a ghost npc before reappearing to walk off.
And you can even trigger it to the space directly east, so he will be standing next to the other npc instead. In either case, walking along his row afterward still enables passage.
I think the Jr Trainer says he saw your "feat" from the grass because he watched you clear Nugget Bridge.

For the trainer/fly glitch it's also fun to know that no text boxes will be displayed either and I'm exploring any effects that doing this can do. Messing about with this at current. I have managed to get text boxes come up before the encounter on the route including a bunch of glitch text and communication error messages.

Something worth noting is that if you have all poisoned Pokemon, you can escape the safari zone building with the walk-through-walls effect by letting all of your Pokemon run out of HP.

And the GBC is a slightly stronger console, so they way memory works may differ due to less restrictions when making the game!

Ok, the bicycle one was amazing
The cool thing about the original games is that you didn't even need flash in the game. When the game loaded up you could change the color pallete. You could do it on a few of the old Gameboy games. I think Super Mario was another one where you could do it.

A lot of the glitches from green version don't work on the US and PAL versions Red and Blue due to them being patched outside of Japan! :)

Quick note about the walking through walls glitch in the safari zone: you can take it outside by letting you Pokemon die of poisoning, which will set you outside the last Poke Center you healed at. Doing this makes it so you can skip the first guard at the Elite 4 thing that checks for Brock's Badge (since the guard is in the building), so you never need to beat Brock, just walk through the building (by not using the door) and you're good to go
TheLolCraft I did it in yellow by using the pallet town+safari zone method just to skip the cave

I think glitch city is actually the game memory, but unlike sml2, you can't screw it up.
I didn't read through all the comments, but it's worth noting that the walk through walls glitch can be taken outside that Safari Zone room. Activate it the same way, but make sure you have only 1 Pokemon with you and that it is poisoned. Keep it alive during the 500 steps using potions or make sure it has enough hp to survive past the point the PA goes off after the 500 steps. Walk around the room without going out of bounds or leaving and let your one Pokemon die to the poison with the glitch active. You'll be sent outside the last Pokemon Center you healed at, and the glitch will still be active. Have fun entering locked doors from behind and skipping Victory Road!

If you actually have your pokemon poisoned when you did the walk through walls glitch, you can make your pokemon faint.
Then, you'll be taken in front of the pokemon center where you last healed at, and the walk through walls effect is still active! :D

When doing the Brock skip, if you have a Bulbasaur with a certain special stat (can't remember the exact number) and you go back into the city after doing the glitch and talk to the kid while standing behind him, he'll try to take you to Brock but leave without you. A few frozen moments later, the music returns from the "follow me" jingle to the normal music, and you can walk through walls... but ONLY if your Bulbasaur has this certain special stat (I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure that's what it is). You can carry this glitch to the route too (I'm pretty sure it stays until you enter a building but don't quote me on that). This glitch, affectionately called "Brock Through Walls" by speedrunners, happens due to the tile you stand on when you talk to the kid. Depending on where you stand when you talk to him, he'll have a slightly different walking path when taking you to Brock. If you stand behind him coning from the route and talk to him, the game tries to find the correct walk path for that tile and finds nothing. Therefore, it freezes you for a few moments while the game panics a bit, then decides to use the special stat number of your Bulbasaur as a pointer for a fail-safe. This number, when used as a path reference in this spot, removes wall collision. If you try this without a Bulbasaur (or without this Bulbasaur's special stat being correct) then the game will softlock when the kid leaves without you.
iirc it’s a bulbasaur because it can have three moves by lvl 8 (or something) and the pp for each move needs to be particular amounts.

about the missingno glitch, you can add more pokemon to the ones you can encounter at cinnabar using the glitch, basically the last areas you encountered pokemon in will add those pokemon to the list as well so you can actually catch Safari Zone pokemon in normal pokemon battles

Dude, do these glitches work on the versions released for the 3DS? If so, then I can finish my Pokédex in just one run :) the Mew Glitch works for every Pokémon? Say, Eevees, the Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee, and the fossils?

In fact, I think I saw a video titled with the glitches working on Virtual Console so yeah! If you can get the right hex values as shown in the video is completely possible. Just make sure you keep 1 trainer available to do trainer fly on :)
Wild Pokemon also work as the hex value modifier once you've escaped a trainer battle so you can try those too, but their special attack is much more random than trainer battles.
I don't completely understand the whole process, so I'll just watch your video a few times more. Thanks, this was a real life saver
