If it were a 68 with rallye wheels,it would be the baddest car on earth, that 69 is still sick and the cragars are a close number two for rims.🤘love it.
Here is another case of the guy yapping up how things are correct when they are not. Wrong air breather, wrong color on the engine, w30 red fender wells on a non w30, etc etc and the list goes on. Now don't get me wrong over all a nice car but not what it could be.
It's funny to read the comments, everybody seems to know what was right and wrong about the car,,,I worked at Olds 70 71 72 73 and help build these cars
One thing that you can tell "if you know Oldsmobiles" is that the 442 IS NOT a W30 car......if it was the inner fender wells ARE NOT the only feature of a true W30!!!! The W30 had snorkels under the front bumper to "ram" fresh air into the intake and had a dual snorkel air cleaner that attached to the under bumper snorkels through tubes leading up to them!! Further a W30 would also have a larger diameter sway bar front and rear then a normal 442!!! ALSO like another comment stated 4 4 2, actually stood for 4 Hundred, 4 Barrel, 2 Exhaust and NOT 4 speed!! Also if this was a W30 it would have a small badge on the fenders below the 442 that would say W 3 0 under it and they carried that over into the 1970 model year as well with the added stripe that would follow the lower body line (in 1970)!! It is a lovely car and the only other thing to note here is that the W30 had red plastic inner fenders as well.....which I am not sure why they made them red....but it works, because on a lot of standard Cutlasses and 442s without the W30 I have seen black inner fender wells that were just plain black plastic!!! My 1971 and my 1972 both had the black plastic inner fenders on them!! Which to me is totally weird since my 1974 Oldsmobile Omega had steel inner fenders! This is a beautiful car just the same and kind of a unicorn for having a stick shift in it!!
Looks nice but my car has the valve cover breather on the other side of the engine I think. I need to look at it again. Also idle seems high unless it's a cold start and the choke is on.
He probably just started it and it was cold so it was on choke/fast idle. A quick touch of the throttle should have idled it down but it wasn’t being driven at the moment.
In 1964 the first year for the Olds 4-4-2 it stood for 4 barrel 4 speed dual exhaust. All 4-4-2s in 1964 were 4 speeds with 330 cubic in engine(no 400s)In 1965 all had 400 engines and automatics were available , then 4-4-2 stood for 400 4 barrel dual exhaust.
Missing that beautiful engraved OEM 442 H stick with the black ball. Whoever put that wussy stick in there should be put in prison. Idle is set too high, sounds terrible.
Had 69 442 with 2-gear automatic. Never experienced same "slam you into the seat" again.
My friend had one, first time I had ever been slammed in seat.
The 442 never came with a 2 speed automatic

My first car was a 66 cutlets olds...it had a 400 auto trans triple white.very clean
Was it a Veal Cutlets?
The best part is its idling the whole time!!
"400" 4 barrel and dual exhaust!
my grampa bught one of these brand new in sixty nine my dad and i love to ride in er! its a great car!
That’s sick the only thing I’d change is the vinyl top and make it a hard top
If it were a 68 with rallye wheels,it would be the baddest car on earth, that 69 is still sick and the cragars are a close number two for rims.🤘love it.
My first car was a 68 442. I loved it.
6x9s in back seat that brings back memories of my childhood lol
That is gorgeous, love the triple black! I've always wanted a '69 Cutlass or 442. Hopefully one day!
Got to do that headliner
Ben is correct! I wonder what rear gear ratio is in it. 3k revs at 70-75 is waaaaay more than that motor needs!
The slogan back then was 400 4spd Dual Exhaust. I have an original numbers matching 69 442 Convertible. Luv it
400, 4 barrel dual exhaust
Needs the trumpet exhaust to complete the car.
Only 442s had those trumpets.
Never liked them...
Cutlass Supreme SX had the 452 bumper as well only one I thought the W-31 might have but no..
Very cool OLDS!!!😎👍🏼❤️
Black Beauty! 😎🖤🖤🖤 🇺🇸 USA!
Was my 1st car in 11th grade
“ council “ cracks me up.
I've never had a car with a counsel....

You notice that a well seems like half the stuff is cobbled.. even the red is not the right shade of red aftermarket...
Agree
About how much did this beauty sell for? Tks, loved these cars.
All this effort and no trumpet tips? Unreal.
Nice project

I owned 18 of them from 1964 to 1970 including W-30'S & W-31'S I met Joe Mondelo I was working on Oldsmobile's since I was 14 years old ..
Yeah, owning 7 different 442's over the years earns a few creds
Gorgeous! Wowza!
Nice Olds
Thanks for watching
Buick and olds owners always seemed to have tskin better car er of their cars than Chevrolet or Pontiac
Sweet!!!!!
Meu sonho era ter um mas infelizmente nunca vou ter um
Yes, someone knows what they were doing! Triple Black with Crager's. Lose the radials and go back to bias ply tires and you got a winner.
Beast!
How much did it sell for?

Yes, this 442 is not a W-30
In 1969 the W30s had a black or white outlined W30 sticker above the front fender park lights.
❤️
Looks nice but my car has the valve cover breather on the other side of the engine I think. I need to look at it again. Also idle seems high unless it's a cold start and the choke is on.
Take it back. It's right.
Love it
You sound a little like Bill Murray.
Idling kind'a fast. And it's a CONsole, not a "council".
He probably just started it and it was cold so it was on choke/fast idle. A quick touch of the throttle should have idled it down but it wasn’t being driven at the moment.
Actually 442 stood for 400 4 barrel dual exhaust not 4 speed ! Since most of were automatics 4 speed was a option !

O k but in the late 60's early 70's most of them were automatics ! A 4 speed was a option !
From 68 & up the free stock transmission was a 3 speed HD Manual, and the 4 Speed Muncie and the Turbo 400 Auto Trans both were optional ...
I thought the 2 was for posi rear end? My 68 had dual exhaust but not posi like my dad's 442
@@goneshootin61 wrong automatic was option
Pretty Cutlass with a four barrel carb (maybe) a four speed and dual exhaust. Definitely NOT a 442. Clone at best.
Please say the price.

Sweet 442!!!👍Please check out my 1968 Barracuda fastback powered by a rowdy 512 stroker backed by an A833 4 speed manual. I think you'll approve. 👌
🏆❤️💰
Why would someone decide not to do the trumpets? That is such a stupid remark to make. Tell it like it is, they are missing.
yea a 442 IS 4 speed, 4 barrel 2 door... NO they didn't make any in automatic, good grief
Wrong on both counts
Take your foot off the clutch while in gear🤦♂️
455,4 barrell,dual exhausts.442 had 455 engines.
i tought they used Oldsmobiles rocket 400 big block, i think 455s are Pontiac
70-72 442 came with 455s..68-69 442 a 400
455 Rocket
69 442 had 400 cubes
Stands for 400. 4 barrel. Duel exhaust 455. Was in 1970
