This play personally is really emotional for me because it’s nearly identical to my childhood and these actors are some of the most talented I’ve ever seen act in this play! I’m currently watching it for a theater play and you really do justice to the script!
I was fortunate enough to see the B'way production and have searched for a worthy companion piece to watch online. This is it! The acting, first and foremost, spectacular. Inflections, comic timing on serious subjects...BRAVO! The pacing, just right to build each scene and act. The set, gorgeous. A remarkable job for a difficult play. So many local productions I have seen play it as straight drama, this company did not lose the dark comedy! Thank you. During this pandemic, I have been searching for full length theatre pieces, and with this I struck gold. A true gem, be proud!
Hi! This video has gotten quite a lot of views lately (like it was at 200 last I checked and now it’s over 1,000) so I just wanted to say a few things! First, a lot of this cast can see this and the comments it receives. I ask that you please be respectful of everyone involved. I have removed all mean comments and will continue to do so. Second, please understand that this is a community theater! Every actor involved was a volunteer and we all volunteered hours of our time to create this beautiful show and I personally think we did an amazing job. This is a hard show and there are so many monologues and intricate details that need to be brought to life so please understand that before being mean. I appreciate all the kind comments and thank you so much to everyone who has watched this and enjoyed it. Just remember, at the end of the day, no one benefits from negativity. If you don’t find joy in watching this, then don’t watch it. Thank you :) EA x
I am sorry some people are mean, but people in the world need to be tough and handle criticism. In 2021, the West is so soft, it's a joke to the rest of the conservative world. Keep in mind, 90% of the world is tough, traditional, conservative, and old school, and believes in tough honesty rather than lying validation. Nonetheless, both the movie and your play are great. But 9 of 10 times in life people fail, so accept mean comments as part of life.
@@madeasimmons9746 Yeah but I’m allowed to have this video be a positive space. Nothing wrong with that. I mean if you’re fine with kids being put down for something they were proud of, then good for you. But I’m not. I know mean comments are a part of life but if I can prevent people from seeing some of that negativity, then I will.
I’ve been in Love with Rondi Reed who originated the supporting role in this show since she was in wicked. I remember her speaking about how this show got her the Tony but only really came back to it after finding out what the storyline was about. Some parts are near identical to conversations had in my own family home, and the deep rooted narcissism, and emotional abuse that hangs over an entire family, who know no better than to “make do with what they have” seeing the collapse and the fallout that is left behind once their father dies and their mother goes into a full narcissistic meltdown was actually a total relief for me. It shows me that my family life WAS toxic and that all those times me and my sibling felt alone, we weren’t, and that this is something more people go through than you’d think! Such an incredible play, and the movie hits too hard for me to watch.
I saw the incomplete Broadway bootleg but something in the quality that I did not understand some lines. Good job! This production is good! Excellent ensemble acting! There are some minor directorial choices I do not like. But stunning anyway! Thank You!

Good job with the difficult "dinner table" scene. One of my favorite moments on stage when we did the show in 2018.
I watched this for a college English class and I absolutely loved it. Great performance Ms. Ashlin, and everyone else involved!
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate it!

I love the movie! This production reminds me a lot of the movie.
I watched this for my theatre class and was blown away. It was a hard watch because of the material but wow. What an amazing job. I am truly moved.
Oh these actors are fantastic! Particularly the woman playing Barbara!
I'm the strong one. When everyone is done and gone, I'll be here! I really loved the movie version too.

It's really done very well. I write plays and wish my plays were all done with a cast this good.
Never knew there was a play, I've watched the movie way too many times
Juandre Diaz Thank you so much for watching, I really appreciate it!
Amazing performance! Every actor did phenomenally and all the techies, set designers, costume designers, and the director did amazing! BRAVO!

Wow, just wow! Audience please keep your insecurities to yourself. You almost spoiled the ending but the performance was amazing. Magnificent! Bravo!
I love this show! Great production!
Thus play hits close to home.. when it comes to my family and the family dynamics..
Out of curiosity, have you ever read or seen a production of 'The Humans' by Stephen Karam?
Or 'Long Day's Journey Into Night' by Eugene O'Neill?

this is nice but I prefer the movie. the movie is dark and cynical but here the audience is laughing. I don't understand how.
Why the hell is this audience laughing?
This show is literally a comedy…
