Yep! I only brush after my shampoo to help distribute oil through my hair. I use a soft boar bristle brush.
I'm thinking of starting gentle dry brushing weekly to help make sure lint doesn't embed now that my locs are shoulder length.

I definitely brush my locs... started about 8 months in my loc journey I use my boar bristle brush after I shower and my locs are moist. It has definitely helped with lint and frizz and growth I'm 17 months in... I immediately saw a difference.

I love that u talk about this, i dry shake & brush my hair in the shower. 11 years loc and my hair look great, i mostly focus on the 2 back rows where i get the most buildup cause i refuse to use satin pillow case.lol... Great video.

I have had my locs for 16 years. I have been retwisting too often and my locs are way super thin. What would you recommend for making them fuzzier/fluffier?

  • @lorrainewilliams7520

I have had my locs for 9yrs, I used to brush them regularly but stopped cause I remember another youtuber saying it was bad. But recently I've taken it back up again and I must say I find it very therapeutic when I brush my locs. I am currently using a soft boar brush which works well with my hair type.😊

Hey Jocelyn, I’m 18 months in now, I started out with long gray hair, that’s a mixture of straight/loose curls, needless to say my locs are very frizzy. I find it frustrating, because to me, my hair always looks like I need a retwist. I’m going to wash my hair tomorrow, so I’ll brush my locs beforehand. Thanks for all the good information you’ve passed on (I had a consultation with you back in March) to me. I enjoy learning so much from you!

My Sisterlocks journey has been amazing! Many ups and downs and lessons learned as well, but I’ve been struggling with lint and product buildup for awhile now. My 7yr. anniversary is right around the corner and I am in awe of my growth! Anyway, The back of my head and nape area is where I have the most trouble with. I’ve tried any and everything to remove it. Recently I’ve done an ACV Rinse and Chileeee buildup GONE, but lint? I caught pure hell. Any suggestions on an easier method of getting it out? I’m scared of over washing my locs as well as damaging them.

    • @ondreatorrence4322

Dye your hair a dark shade . That's what I do now because I use to pick them out and it easy causing micro damage that I now see . You can pick it when it's on the surface but once it's deeper just leave it be and dye your hair once or twice a year . Just my two cents :)

I have very healthy long locs for over seven years and I would not add anything heavy to your locs. This will cause build up. Spritz with water daily and use a very light oil once or twice a week. Keep it simple.

@@icecool85 she just simply asked if I had been brushing. I was just amazed that she could tell, because I didn't really brush it much. She mentioned that I should be careful because it could weaken the bonding over time. Not going to lie, though, sometimes I brush when it starts to look really fuzzy to me, but very few times and never two days in a row. Usually one light brushing with some oil helps me look & feel freshened.
