Love your variety of color for November! Wow 🤩 that Majohn retractable is so neat! I love the Diamine Handel and am liking that Anderillium Cuttlefish Brown 🤎🤩! Thank you for sharing!
You are so right about this month. Where did it go? Isn’t that Majohn A1 pen nice? I’ve purchased a few of them and also the A2 which is nice, too. I know you can use the Pilot nib units in them but I’ve been very happy with the steel nib, although it is a nail. And mine never dry out, either. Amazing for a pen that inexpensive. I hope you’re not in the big snow zone now. NE looks like a mess. I miss those days when I used to live in Milwaukee and Chicago but I was younger and snow was fun then.
Hi, Peggy. I wish I was getting snow. It seems like every state around us is getting snow. It’s so dry here in MD. Have you tried the A3? It’s an interesting pen as well. I don’t have an A2. The A1 in F is just perfect. I rarely reach for my Vanishing Point.
I agree the Andrillum inks are really watery but they dry down to very vibrant colors. Couldn’t believe how scratchy the Sailor sounded. Everything I’m convinced I want one…. Someone does a video that makes me say nahhhh
Hi! I think Sailors are an acquired taste. It’s a bit smoother than it sounds but not by much. You may like a M or B. The F definitely gets close to scratchy territory. They do have a sweet spot. My Sailor collection will be relatively small.
@@potandpensOh my. That is awful. The KOP is on my grail list. I don’t have one yet but I definitely plan on getting one. I look forward to seeing yours when you get it!!
Wonderful video! Thank you for showing your swatch method. What an excellent idea to show the performance of the ink and nib at the same time, rather than just a swatch of smeared ink. You are excellent at repairing pens. If the Majohn X1 doesn’t last long, would you be able to exchange nibs with the black one? I do love my Makralon LAMY 2000 EF. I’ve always considered the stainless model to be heavier. Excellent idea to use the rubber grip. Impressive Sheaffer Imperial! I love pens with inlaid nibs. Thank you for sharing your thoughts in your pen and ink journal. What a fabulous record.
Hi, Marcy. Thank you for the kind words. Whenever the white X1 totally falls apart, I’m going to try to switch the nibs. I’m hoping it will hold on. I was inspired to condition my Galen leather case after watching your video. It doesn’t look that much better. I used Kiwi leather conditioner. I may need to buy some of Galen’s.
@ Hopefully the Galen Leather balm will work better. You may need to try to buff out the previous application if possible so the leather can fully absorb the new condition without being sealed out.
@ Sorry for the delayed response. I had a loading error the first time. Anyway, here we go again. I’m confident you will be able to salvage a good X1 between the two. I’m sorry about the performance of the Kiwi. I would try to warm the leather and buff out as much of that conditioner as possible if you do decide to add Galen Leather balm. You don’t want the first application to seal out good benefits of your second application. I would just wrap it in a light towel and place it on the dashboard of my vehicle on a sunny day, then rub down with that towel. I’ll be anxious to hear how it all turns out!
I have found that I really like the lighter Majohn a2 fountain pen its all plastic except for the insides and its extra fine nib Is SO SMOOTHE and I'm not a fan of extra fine nibs but that one is amazing I wish I could put Platinum carbon black in there but I'm afraid it will be difficult to come out : / we will see :)
Hi, Marilyn. It probably would be hard to clean but worth a try. I haven’t used my Carbon Black much. I need to pull it out. I don’t have the A2 but I have one of the A3s.
Thank you for sharing your method in detail! I love the way you swatch!
You are very welcome. Give it a try. It is very meditative and relaxing to do as well.

Hi. Thank you!! Handel can be kind of dry but it is very pretty. It reminds me of Robert Oster Pink Squirrel. The X1 is a great pen just too fragile.
@ two inks added to my list to try. Thank you and wishing you a blessed day 🫶

@@MarcellHobbsExcellent advice, Marcy. I appreciate it. Will definitely buy some of Galen’s conditioner in my next order.
