"Car-mull" for me 💜I LOVE the Cheese Shop mystery series. The second book in that series, Gone for Gouda, is my favorite out of all four books in the series.
I’m planning to read the first in that series for my next installment of this series. 😉

It's always so interesting to hear what other readers think about cozies especially ones you either loved or hated. I don't ever pick cozies anymore by ratings or what others thought of the books. I pick the themes and synopsis that peak my interest the most. Doing this has made reading cozy mysteries a very enjoyable experience for me. I also usually read the second book in a series if I don't DNF the first book as sometimes I rate the first book 3 stars and the second book 5 stars. I gave Dead and Gondola 5 stars (I was also surprised at the reveal, that type of reveal always gets me), Cheddar Off Dead 4 stars, and I haven't read Assaulted Caramel (other cozies themes appeal to me more than this one). I hope you enjoy your next round of cozies! I can't wait to see it!

For me it’s “car-mul” no matter what, but I totally think that just depends on where you’re from!
I have tried to read Dead and Gondola twice. Both times I DNF’d it. What makes one cozy a 5-star over another cozy? Every book would be a 5-star if writers could figure out that little problem. I think the biggest issue is the mood of the reader.

Reading is subjective, so I’m not sure it’s possible for an author to solve that one. We all have different reading tastes, preferences, interests, and, yes, moods absolutely can play a part in enjoyment!

Birdie is an olde timey nickname for Elizabeth so I guess it makes sense that it would pop up in a cozy. I’ve been struggling to find new cozies! I realized I like farm and woodsy ones better than bookstore/food/cafe ones but they’re harder to find! I wish Cozy Hollow book club could come back eventually but I know it’s a lot of work.
Unfortunately, I don’t think I that’s ever going to come back. But there are other cozy mystery book clubs out there. 😊 @cozymysteryclub on Instagram is one.

Well I didn’t expect to not like it! 🙈😂 It just wasn’t comparable to other cozies I’ve read, and I still can’t for the life of me pinpoint what it was about that writing that I couldn’t stay in the story! 🤪

You should read “all fudged up” by Nancy coco. I thought of it because you enjoyed assaulted caramel and tried the fudge recipe. There are also fudge recipes in that book. Also another cozy mystery is “Brewed awakening” by Cleo coyle, taking place in a coffee shop.
Btw, you’re the reason I picked up “A Magical bookshop mystery” series by Amanda flower. I plan to read the first one before the end of this year. Hopefully soon!
I have another of Nancy Coco’s books called Death Bee Comes Up that I plan to try. If I end up liking it it her writing I will definitely try her other books.

So glad had some books you enjoyed! I've only tried one cozy mystery, and it was good but I didn't love it. I think I'm just nervous about trying cozy mysteries because I'm afraid they'll either be too cheesy for me, or I'll love them and then be committed to a really long series--because so many of them are! 😅
I had some of the same fears! I was convinced I would never find a 5-star cozy mystery but I’ve since found so many I love! I just pick and choose which series I continue. The good thing is that you don’t have to read them all. So I’ve read a lot of first books, but I’ve only continue in one series so far and have 4 more I plan to!
And they’re shorter series, so less pressure. 😊
