Nice review! Like you, I have owned GM30’s for about a year now I recently bought the A36 and I’m very happy with both models. The positives that the A36 has is a drop in charger, the ability to unlock to VHF and UFH, a search mode to find frequencies/CT codes on UFH and a more sensitive RX, meaning the squelch will open easier over the GM30. The advantages of the GM30 is a better sounding speaker and heavier build quality, with a much better mic port cover. Since I have the A36 unlocked with many more frequencies available, my first choice is the A36. However, you cannot go wrong with either radio. Both of these radios blow the much more expensive Wouxun KG905 and KG935 away in RX and TX performance.
Had my talkpod for a copy of weeks so far. I opened my HT to the HAM bands and MURS alone with GMRS. I love the USB c charging port. Also programs with CHIRP. And comes with two different roger beeps. Easy screen to read once you get the menu in English.
If you do the expand mod (PTT, 8 while turning on) it'll do 2 meters, 70cm and 1.25 meters along with GMRS, MURS and FRS. Mine transmits at nearly 10 watts on 220.
I ordered a 3200mah battery from Amazon and it came with a body and speaker for a N36 which seems to be a network radio. Now if I can just find the internals for a N36 I'll have something neat.
Hey mate can’t get an answer on this. Does the A36plus work like a normal uhf with 80 channels you can flick through? Thinking of replacing the old uhf in my car with a handheld.
Question for those that have this, I got one for the wife and can not get it to work. Just got it to send but won't recieve on gmrs. Any help would be appreciated
@@TrailTraveler thanks, I may try and reset it if possible, took it out of box and tried setting it up along with other people. No telling what got pushed lol
Another reviewer claims the Talkpod hasnt been programmed correctly for the GMRS power levels unsure how true that is? he also claimed the repeaters are not correctly programmed in either! but Iam in the UK so I have no idea what the specifications of your GMRS service is. or maybe that reviewer had a radio with early firmware.
Agreed on all your points!

How do you make the screen timeout stay on

You should check the settings and see if it has privacy codes setup

I have never heard of that "Radioditty" radio. You should have compared the Talkpod with something more well known.

I believe that was a firmware issue
