Theres a vid on youtube of Anthony explaining the song. He was at the lowest point in his life under a bridge trying to buy heroin from Mexican gangsters... he hadn't slept for days and needed heroin to feel ok. He realized things needed to change, he wrote this song, achieved mainstream success, kicked his habits, and the rest is history

This song was playing in my truck when I left the hospital in New Orleans after saying goodbye to my dad and watching him slip away so this song has a very emotional attachment for me
New orleans is the city of fucked up emotions for a lot of people. Deaths, drugs, so many bad memories and some good ones for me. Definitely shaped me as a person. But yeah. Feel ya man. Cheers from Canada, keep your head up.

This takes me back to H.S. shop class in Fleet Maint. In the shop, one person would sing the first bar, and the next thing you knew, the entire shop was either singing or humming along. This happened dozens of times over my 4 years there. It was absolutely uncanny and awesome. It didn't matter if they were rap fans, metal heads, or country fans. Everyone knew it. I heard that it continued until the shop teacher retired. I guess it was our shop song.
