This version of Ddeang is special cuz it features the vocal line rapping. This stage happened during our yearly Festa Muster. (Our and BTS’ anniversary concert) where they do funny activities, sometimes make Funny mini-movies & split into different units. Like dance units; for example, 3J ( j-hope, jimin & JK) dancing to “Coco”, “Take you down” and Tyler’s “Don’t wanna fall in love” or When Jimin and JK danced to MJ’s “Black or White” Sometimes they sing songs they’ve only released on Sound cloud…like Ddeang. The original is a Rap line version and the boys come out in traditional Hanboks (robes) and kill it. So we were all shocked to see vocal line step up to the rap challenge. V, whose known for his baritone singing voice especially loves the rap-line ( RM, Suga, J-hope) and their Cyphers And he’s always trying to get on a rap track so to see him rap Suga’s verse (which he’s tried to do in the past but Suga has shut him down) and to see RM go tit for tat with JK and then hand him the verse to finish was really iconic because JK only joined BTS because he saw RM as a mentor. So I guess it’s like symbolically passing the torch. You guys don’t have to watch the live from the Festa version but if you want you could watch the explanation video done by DKDKTV. It breaks down the meaning of Ddeang and also breaks down the word play used and just the genius of the entire song. There are a lot of Korean references so while we are here in the Western World bopping our head to it there’s a lot that we don’t quite get. Glad you liked it though, it’s most def one of my faves.
