My husband and I have been together for 3.5 years, married for 8 months, and we are definitely still in the honeymoon phase. I believe the honeymoon phase doesn't have to end, but you have to WORK to make it last a lifetime. The best marriage advice I got was to always be NICE to your partner. Just be kind, be nice. Often, the person we are closest to, is the one we are snappiest with and nastiest to. Sometimes you wouldn't speak to a stranger like some people speak to their spouse. Remembering to INTENTIONALLY be NICE, KIND and LOVING will definitely help keep the spark alive.

Yes I definitely agree with you :-) We're both Christians so we go by the Proverbs verse that says 'a kind word/a gentle answer will turn away wrath/anger'... i.e. in a marriage context, speaking and responding to one another in a kind and loving way will help avoid arguments. And I'm learning more and more that we're both on the same team, so I shouldn't take out stuff that's happened in my day on my spouse by being short, or off or starting arguments. We're playing for the same team, I need to treat him like a valued team member. There will be days when I'm a bit of a dick as I'm still human lol and we're deffo still a work in progress, but it's definitely working so far!

Been married almost 8 years, 3 kids. Got married at 19 and been through so much drama, I could make a lifetime movie. Still, I love my husband to pieces, we cry when we have to be apart for a few weeks, BUT he gets on my last nerves when he doesn't pick up is clothes when he changes or slurps when he drinks! Love isn't being in Aww about everything the other person does... there's more to it! Both my grandparents were together for over 50years. One side died with a 2 year difference and my grandfather drew us all away to avoid us finding out how bad my grandmother's Alzheimer was so we wouldn't force him to part from her. He died in their home, she died 2 years later. They would argue all the time, but they did everything for each other. My other gp are still alive, they bicker all the time, but my grandad can't go a day without my grandmother. She went to a family wedding once, my dad had to drive 7hrs to bring him to her cause he missed her. Adrienne needs to come down from her cloud and live down here with the rest of us mortals.

If you can do those things you will have a successful marriage as long as you both are committed.

People always say marriage changes people but I agree with Adrienne. I don’t see that much of a difference between being together for 10 years dating and then being married for 10 years. Either way you spent 10 years with the person. Having a ring on your finger should not add added stress or does not make your relationship more validated.

Both my grandparents were together for over 50years. One side died with a 2 year difference and my grandfather drew us all away to avoid us finding out how bad my grandmother's Alzheimer was so we wouldn't force him to part from her. He died in their home, she died 2 years later. They would argue all the time, but they did everything for each other.
My other gp are still alive, they bicker all the time, but my grandad can't go a day without my grandmother. She went to a family wedding once, my dad had to drive 7hrs to bring him to her cause he missed her.
