In the early ’90s, Death Row Records had a roster that could compete with any label’s top talent, and CEO Suge Knight earned a reputation as one of the most feared men in the industry. James McDonald, then known as Mob James, was the instrument of Knight’s intimidation. McDonald served as Death Row’s muscle and Suge’s go-to-guy for years.
Knight and McDonald used “any means necessary” to get their point across to the label’s opponents. That was then and this is now. McDonald wields a starkly different kind of influence today. Through his podcast, “The Gangster Chronicles,” he draws on his experience and wisdom to steer vulnerable young men away from gangs and street life. Knowing how deeply he was affected by the absence of his biological father, McDonald strives to be a positive male role model in the lives of young men; he feels that if he can just help one individual, then his efforts have not been in vain. The podcast has a bright future: It was picked up by the Black Effect Podcast Network, a joint venture of Charlamagne Tha God and iHeartMedia to amplify black voices.

Bruh! This is more like a healing session, I believe all people should sit and be open to talk about their hurts, failures, disappointments and downfalls. I'm in tune, this is touching to hear. To be rejected by your own mother and abuse by a man that's not even your biological father has to be traumatic.✌🏾& blessing to Mob James and his walk with Christ🙏🏾🙏🏾

Overwhelmingly, Back then a lot of this happened! Women were known to pick their man/husband over their child/children! This is so hurtful and sad! So when I see women leaving men behind their wrongdoings especially abuse I’m all for it because that aggression gets worse

Michael Jackson came to mind while listening to this. I wonder does Katherine ever feel any guilt for the way she allowed him to be treated?
Back on the West Coast tho I read so many books from that era and having an abusive parent seemed to be the norm. Lots of preying on young girls too I’m not surprised so much dysfunction was able to thrive there.

In the federal system snitching does not beat your case for you snitches still got to go hit the yard ..What the ignorant people don't realize is if you catch a federal case and you agree to cooperate with the feds you still have to go do federal time that's what James mean by he hasn't been locked up since the 90s cuz if he caught a federal case and he decided to wear a wire and tell on FG he would have still have to go do his Federal time and that's what most people are not comprehending that's what he's not doing a good job of explaining

What doesnt make sense is FG paper work that has no name on it..and he has a actual picture that he claims is mob james with a blurry face...now he claims the picture is from his court case or paper work...its a actual picture...Lets use our brain and think....why would the state allow him to have a picture of the person who snitched on him if they redacted the name on the paper work??? The state doesnt redact names and then provide images .... thats the whole point of redacting the name and blacking it out on the paper work so the defendant doesnt know who the snitch was.... i dont believe it was mob james for that reason...and i dont believe that picture is mob james and i dont believe it was from FG's case either. that "picture" doesnt belong.. somethings not right about it..it doesnt fit

They had a mini war sorta say . Untill the score got even. Then a cease fire was agreed .

Just when I thought I had watched every Mob James interview on TH-cam this one pops up. His childhood reminds me of Douhboy from Boyz n the Hood. Always the unwanted child, verbal abuse and total neglect. He actually had it worse than Doughboy at least he was only terrorized by one parent.
I’m no fool I know these guys did a lot of dirt but I’m still thankful for their stories. They highlight a certain masculinity that is missing w the men of my generation and I don’t mean gâng banging.
Mob James stories remind me it’s never too late to win in life and start over. Tina Turner said herself that her real life started very late. Success, love and freedom came late and at a cost but it did come. I recall a recent interview where he stated he was going to Australia. I was like a proud mama.
I wish all of these guys peace and healing because they were apart of an amazing /sometimes terrifying time in our history. Where is the book James??? And I want a full book tour as well so I can meet you and get my copy signed. Rooting for you from TX.

James would make a excellent cage your rage teacher. And out of all this Him and Suge seem most hurt and sincere of about all the people with Death Row. Del Ray seem real. Some seem like they bring up our ones not here for shock value with the RIP yet smut his Brother . Suge should have gave James a security budget million or so make him feeling good . So his mind could grow . Have security fat . So the Dogs do not turn on you. Like james was saying they security with little mob rings Suge had a Big MOB ring. Reggie talk recoup yet the Company worth 300 million .With not much spent on security . You must keep people happy . Or do not keep someone with you while you are steady making money . Using you for confidence support and paying you nothing. That person will react according to his nature Now say you keep Using Mob James . He learned I'm not going to be your attack Dog for a few thousand Dollars anymore . I'll sit in the cut and collect on demand I suppose . Whats so sad is that, alot of kids grew up like this.
I dont know what the parents were on at that time, but you cant treat your children like that.
My dad had a similar experience, im just fortunate that his experience made him NOT wanna go that route of being a killa.
When you're an alcoholic or abuser etc and you have children who see you, those kids are gonna either:
    A. Grow up mimicking that behavior or
    B. Grow up Detesting that behavior.

Mob James sounds like a miserable complainer that doesn’t take accountability for his misdeeds. Once you comes completely clean on what he did to Drew, FG, Shitty Mike and others, then he can find peace.

Great interview with mob james. showed love And respect to this man by asking a question? Humble guy. Also gang banging and when this ramdom man had to beat him up. That was sad! To hear him! Taking advantage over something he didn't do? Damn smh! But i glad that his mother found out after he got blared in the grave! He got 5 kids in southern Texas. Wow! That's wrap for him and take out his whole entire name. Thank you! Bro keeping up the good work! G

My mom aint shit neither so this one hits close to me. She did some evil black magic on me so i would sleep and never feel rested always tired disabling me so i wouldnt get married. I enspire to grow like james mcdonold. I was practicing islam to better mybself and i was off drugs and she hated that so she sent me to nicargua and had witches put a hex on me for the last 7 years almost a decade ive been suffering. Back on drugs but i am married alhumdililah the only way to remove is to move far away from the b and sober up snd change my whole identity and life i have a long road ahead of me please pray for me court. I inspire to be like u ogs im 36 only. My parents have robbed me for money to its all over money. It hurts when its ur own blood so i feel james. Ironically my name is Lionel
