nice, we doing it on tuesday. We do that last part differently, we go up on the end where the path stop in the last gulley/waterfall. your way looks much safer though!
oh dear that is pretty risky, I've read a few route guides which specifically say to avoid going up that gully so you'd be better off taking the safe way I think :)
Nice! 2:02, I took a friend up years ago, he tried to climb up Fir Tree to the left, it was almost the end of him when he started panicking. Luckily I managed to guide him down and go up the correct route.
I've done Ledges before (actually I got lost doing it), but I don't remember the exposed section at 1:43 - 1:47 in your video. Is that an alternative route you took, or does one need to do that exposed section of the route ?
It's a great route if you know the way! That exposed section was just after the chimney, there is an option to go behind that rock that I was climbing around but it's not as spectacular. Yes thanks, I've seen both those videos...they're awesome and really helpful. As mentioned, I got lost doing Ledges, as I was stupid enough to try it without a guide book/description. I didn't even climb through the chimney, and found myself in some dodgy situations. And dumbest of all, I climbed the Fir Tree Ravine waterfall at the end. I didn't know I needed to climb the pitch before it. Thought I was gonna die, as it was pretty slippery.
I've had a number of people tell me they've missed the chimney entrance, it's really not an easy route if you don't know the way - even with a guide book. And yes Fir Tree is super dangerous compared to Awkward Top Face (the final rock pitch) so I'm glad you made it out in one piece! It's an awesome route when you know the way, but be careful :)

You should link up Ledges (down) with Kloof corner (up) or Left Face Mystery B (up). Makes for an awesome and exciting day!
Linking up Ledges with Carrel’s Ledge was one of my favourite routes on the Back Table.
