Mice breed fast and are hard to see. A good rule of thumb is that if you see a mouse in your house there are many more hiding.

@@realfoggy without a spring it cannot add a spear, a cage of some sort that falls but fish are mind boggling fast and the cage will fall slowly. If there are water currents it’s likely to trip the sensitive lever. There just are no practical upsides to using it in this way.
A cast net is the better survival tool if you live near water at about a pound.

Those traps are super cool. I love to see the additional uses. I also like you going back to the channel roots with the primitive trap building. My first introduction to the channel with the Mojave scissor trap...which you could probably use this trigger system for as well.
There’s an additional benefit of the PDF-4 you never mentioned: you can adjust the sensitivity of the trap by sliding the little angle bar laterally across the notch where it meets. You can set it up for whatever weight of critter you need to!

I caught a mouse yesterday Shawn. My mom called in a panic that there was a mouse in her livingroom.
So I went there and had a look around, but did not see any signs of mice. So I set up 2 snaptraps and some glitter in stategic places to show movement. But my mom saw it again so I started the hunt.
I placed books upright to create a funnel with a trap at the end. Started moving the furniture where it was hiding and chased it into the funnel. Succes!... Just as you do I put it out for wildlife to eat.
I think that it would be great to see that used for fishing. Thank you

My dad showed me this when I was a kid and also showed me how to make a minor modification to make it work as a noose snare that worked well for pheasant.

I'd only use such a thing in a survival situation. Dead-fall traps just seem more likely to have results that are less than humane.

this setup for fishing must be similar to the jaw jacker that ice fishermen use. its a spring loaded trap that sets the hook for you

Please set up thr spring pole. Great video Sean thank you for bringing this to our attention. Very simple way to catch rodents. It's also a great way for survival techniques love these videos.

you're supposed to be able to just make that with sticks& something heavy if you want to actually survive. I had to if I wanted to pass; & it had to work or you starve. learn the stick method& live if you get stuck nowhere.
