6 tunnel projects of strategic significance are coming up in Jammu and Kashmir. While 3 of them, including the strategic Z-Morh tunnel, is expected to be completed by mid-2023, the Zojila tunnel should be ready by 2026. The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation will shortly open bids for two more. ThePrint's Moushumi Das Gupta reports

This is Nehruji's gift to Jammu and Kashmir. Nehruji built first tunnel on the drawing paper in 1950 and today his dream is being realized by laborers who are big fans of Nehruji. Jairam Ramesh of Congress said we should not built infrastructure because it will anger the Chinese. However our supreme leader Rahulji elbowed him and took out his personal savings from Vatican bank and gave it all away to realize the dreams of Nehruji sketches of the tunnel. Every day my eyes are filled with tears looking at the sacrifices of Nehruji and Rahulji is making for this country.

The infrastructure projects are always either finances by financing agencies or its done through PPP.
How did Atal Bihari Vajpayee envision the biggest highway project in 2003-04 itself. Were we rich enough?
Congressi gulam should not bicker about finances.
Their policies forced India to beg in 1991.
And when China was 3T economy, they already had 26k kms kf expressway. Congress never paid heed to infrastructure let alone build super expressways.
The Chennab Rail bridge will be game changer..

Iam from TANGDAR area of Kashmir and our people has been requesting state government for sadhna tunnel from past 50 yrs for a better connectivity in all seasons for public and army also but state government had always ignored the needs of people of Kashmir 😔

I can understand the problem you face in winter, but a tunnel in Tangdhar may not be economically viable. If I am not wrong Border Roads keeps the Nastachun (Sadhana) open during winter.

the tunnel is very important in J&k because in winter most of the time highways and roads are blocked by snow, so it will great for the local businessmen to continue running their business in winters
Srinagar badly needs a bypass/outer ring road. I was passing through narrow roads there like our inner lanes in cities..it was actually nh1 on paper..🤣🤦♂️

Up until 2014 it was impossible to move the army and military vehicles in NE. The infrastructure boost actually connected the NE with India.
And same story is for Kashmir.

Jummu srinagar rail link is the only alternative to connect the two different geographical terrains, which can make connectivity 24*7*365 . That should be paced up. Roads are very difficult to manage especially during harsh winters.
