This is Madame Clemence, a custom order for Amanda who wanted a Victorian Gothic journal with a spiritulism and witchy theme. This journal not only inspired a name but a whole story in my mind which resulted in a journal who I feel has a real energy and life all of her own and was such a joy to create.

I do love this journal! The story about Madam Clemence is very intriguing, and I think you should have been a writer! The black lace and beads make the journal look very dark and brooding. A very evocative journal. You do such wonderful details. Of course, we all have different tastes, and while lots of fabric edging on pages is not my style, I love the addition of beading, and the fabric bits inside. Your journal is a marvelous interpretation of Victorians’ passion for memento mori and attempts to contact the dear departed.

It really depends, a big journal like this one can take several weeks to make. It depends on how decorated it is and how much ephemera and fabic I have used.

Gorgeous! Are those photographs real? Where do they come from? Are the death certificates copies of real ones? Where di you find all these?
Thank you, a lot of the photos are from a vintage photography book and the death certificates are digital copies of real ones I believe that i purchased for PinkOddBirds etsy shop. I hope that is helpful.
