    I have this lens for the canon eos r and I was so bummed cuz I wasn’t getting as clear images as you are getting here! But I bumped up my shutter speed and made sure to move my focus over on the spots I wanted focus (stopped using center focus) and man gripped the lens lol and now I’m getting much better images! I thought I had a faulty lens but no I’m the one that’s faulty. Thank you for all your amazing videos and tips!

    • @Loth-n1v

      85mm Sigma is really good plus the build quality.
      Although I don't think you can go wrong with Samyang.

    • @SONYAdicto
      @SONYAdicto 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Sigma is better in image quality and autofocus speed/accuracy. But costs more.
      I find that the Samyang struggles to perfectly nail focus on my A7R IV and I have to take like 3-4 photos while leaning a little forward and backward to get one perfect shot.

    I am between this lens and Sigma 85mm 1.4 art dg. In comparisons the Sigma has better micro contrast similar to GM but in real life practice the Rokinon is still sharp just a bit warmer with prominent flare. Might still go with the sgima but i really like the rokinon for some reason

    Great photos! Such a cool location too! The Samyang seems like a really great alternate to other 85s, and the image quality seems extremely close! Watched another video a while back comparing the Samyang head to head, and it did really well :) 85 is one of my favourite lenses - I got a 1.2 DS on sale, and really love the unique / soft bokeh! It doesn’t let in as much light (closer to f 1.8/f2) but it’ actually makes it more usable wide open in strong daylight! The EF would sometimes still be overexposing at 1/8000 and 100 ISO at 1.2, (I guess a filter could help, but sometimes it feels like throwing away quality anyway unless it’s a really high grade filter 😞 )

    Hi Julia, This looked good fun and good to know that one doesn’t have to spend so much for a good quality lens. I assume different make cameras produce slightly different colour photos. Just for interest do your (Julia’s) presets have to be different for different make cameras I.e. Canon vs Nikon to produce the same results? Keep up the fun times!

      @juliatrotti  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! Luckily I have lots of raw files from a bunch of different cameras that I use to test all my presets on, so they should work on anything. Mostly the only thing that would need to be adjusted is white balance and exposure depending on where and how the photo was taken. If you’re unsure you can always email me, I’m happy to help!

    Would You recommend buying Samyang 85mm f1.4 and 35mm f1.4 as a good set for portraits and elopements? I know that g-master would be best but I'm looking for a compromise between quality and price :)
