  • What's the #2 best city in the entire country? Arlington, Virginia!
In today's video, we’re going to break Arlington down into 6 Pros, 3 cons, 3 unique things to do, and if you stick around to the end, 2 bonus pieces about Arlington you probably won’t hear anywhere else.
Here are the pros: LOCATION: (Proximity to Washington, D.C.)
DIVERSE NEIGHBORHOODS: Arlington's neighborhoods cater to various preferences. For example, Clarendon is known for its urban feel, while neighborhoods like Lyon Village offer a more suburban atmosphere. Mostly SFH and condos, fewer TH’s. Neighborhoods include Ballston, Clarendon, Lyon Village, Lyon Park, Westover, Country Club Hills, Bellevue Forest, etc.
JOBS: Arlington's job market benefits from its proximity to D.C. The government sector is significant, and the area is a hub for technology companies and defense contractors.
EDUCATION: Arlington Public Schools consistently rank well. As of 2021, the district had a high graduation rate, and many of its schools received high ratings. There are also reputable private schools in the area.
CULTURAL AND RECREATIONAL AMENITIES: Arlington offers cultural events, theaters like the Signature Theatre, and numerous parks. The county has over 150 miles of multi-use trails, including the Mount Vernon Trail.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: The Washington Metro, including the Blue, Orange, Silver, and Yellow lines, serves Arlington. The D.C. area’s regional bus system has numerous routes in Arlington promising connectivity where there is limited Metro service. Great access for biking and walking.
Here are the cons. COST OF LIVING: Arlington's cost of living is relatively high. Housing costs, including home prices and rents, were above the national average. The demand for housing often exceeds the supply, contributing to the higher costs.
TRANSIENT POPULATION: Due to the nature of jobs in the D.C. area, some residents may be more transient. The transient population can impact the sense of community for those looking for long-term connections.
LOTS OF PEOPLE: means traffic Congestion: The D.C. metropolitan area, including Arlington, experiences traffic congestion. Commuting by car may involve dealing with heavy traffic on major roadways, especially during rush hours. Popular areas like Clarendon and Ballston can get crowded, particularly on weekends. This can be attributed to the vibrant social scene and numerous entertainment options. While there are abundant job opportunities, the job market can be competitive, especially in industries such as technology and government contracting. The competitive nature may require individuals to have strong skills and experience to secure desirable positions.
    UNIQUE THINGS TO DO:
Broomball at the Iceplex, Climb to New Heights at Movement, Set up an iron-chef style cooking competition at Cookology, Indulge that creative spirit with a karaoke contest at Punch Bowl Social, Get your group to think as a team at high-tech 5 Wits escape room.
    *BONUS FACTS*
