I fell into the Irish Music rabbithole in the last few weeks. And I absolutely adore your voice George. If I could I'd give anything to move to a place like Ireland, for the music and heartfelt emotions alone! Greetings from a new fan from the Netherlands
I took my granddaughter to the concert in The Watergate Kilkenny.....she enjoyed it....so did grandad....it was a very very good night...I hope to see the lads again
I took my granddaughter (she was 15) March 19....22.. at The Watergate, Kilkenny....she really enjoyed and made me to promise if decide to see the lads again I must get her a ticket...
A truly fantastic set with great renditions of all the good old songs I used to sing with my Father & Mother when they were on this green earth. I was born in the 80's myself but have always loved the old Irish songs the best. It's refreshing to hear proper, real heartfelt singing in these times. Much love to all of you and can't wait to see ye all playing live someday soon xx
George Murphy is the real deal. In my humble, he's channeling Luke (Kelly). And I've known Luke. Met and drank w/ him in Mc Daid's, in those ancient days when Mr. O'Brien as barman / owner, and the world was much nicer to artists than it is now. Mark my prophetic words: "George Murphy and The Rising" is a very gifted, learning / creative group, and perhaps the most worthy successors of The original Dubliners-- Luke, Ronnie, Barney, and the living John Sheehan from Merino God Bless them!
Great stuff George and the Rising Sons keeping the old songs alive. The older generation were lucky to have had Luke Kelly and our generation are equally as lucky to have George Murphy. Keep up the great work and hope to see you live when I can and have a pint with ya, If you have the time!
Thanks for the very kind words Colm. Some tunes and some pints sounds great when there are available establishments in which to part-take in such things.
@@georgemurphy2574 my granddaughter enjoyed your concert at the Watergate.....(so did grandad) she really likes David's singing...we deffo try to see you again.......
Hi Phyllis thanks for your interest. We have cds on sale and gigs in Ireland coming up. If you check out George Murphy music on Facebook or The Rising Sons you can get info there.
Our first performance group was 8 and then we grew to 11 before we opened for Dylan Foley. The sound man had a fit. The description of the group was an 11 piece Irish band. I guess he thought we were all acoustic.
I have booked my tickets for Paddy's weekend at The Watergate Kilkenny...(19th) I'm taking my 15yrs old granddaughter Layla......she shares my taste in music...... (she's also a bit of a Dead Head too like grandad...lol)....ive got her in to music....she plays the uke....i try to play the Bodhran....

I love your original song and I'll tell you why - I hear history echoing off the walls and heroes walking the streets of the town
George has really grown up musically since his 1st album....which I have...(my son bought it for me when it 1st came out) a truly mature musician.....

Fantastic singing. Ditch the cap.
take me to CORK
No Complaints, great sounds, but the galway shawl is a bit funny, the growling sounds like a pup trying to be a dog
Would like to know if he is playing Newry City anytime soon I heard him years ago when he was first discovered but he went off the radar
