I recently got a deal on Scareglow from ebay. When he arrived i found his legs had been repaired with the hook and o-ring method but, with what ive learned watching these videos, I had no problem replacing them with a proper leg band. Thank you Toy Polloi!
Well done as ever, my friend! One of my favorite MOTU characters so it's always a treat to see him featured; and thanks for the shout-out...I'm glad that halberd came in handy!
I have two collectible loose vintage 1981 Scareglow all original capes and a glow staff and the other with green staff and with their comics. There are rare and expensive. Great job restoring Scareglow, he is an awesome MOTU figure.
I'm proud to have bought this amazing figure when I was a kid and it first came out. I still have it in complete conditions. Speaking of "rare" MOTU figures I also have a complete Ninjor and a complete King Randor. I have a total of 24 figures, all purchased when I was a kid and they still have all the armors and weapons.
Another excellent restoration! Bringing somewhat knackered toys back to shelf life - it is very satisfying viewing! I think the new arm looks superb. The colour is better than the original arm in some ways!
Wonderful job and video as always Dave. It looks absolutely Fantastic. I wish my childhood scareglow looked half as good. In actuality if I took the time to do what you have just done. It would probably be close. I have all the original parts except for the staff. Although the cape is a tattered mess, and the figure is in pieces. You have proven once again that a little time and love for these figures can do wonders. Painting the replacement arm was the kicker. I would not have thought to do that. Again it looks amazing, and as always thank you for what you do.
Amazing. Your work always blows me away and inspires me. Cape looks awesome. I have an original Scareglow figure that is missing its cape. My parents let my little brother play with my toys when I wasn't home, back in the day. One day I was looking through my old toys every vehicle was missing parts or was broken in places. Same with the figures, missing parts. I used to be so careful playing with my toys(very unusual I think) My brother was not, apparently. I dont think I have the chops to be able to recreate a cape though. Very nice work indeed. Merry Christmas to you and every collector who is watching by the way:)
Not easy to paint a slightly translucent glow in the dark figure Dave, the colour was actually pretty close to its original colour in the end. Looks great all finished Dave, exceptional job once again 👏👏👏
That looks AMAZING! Considering it's nearly 40 years old AND glow-in-the-dark, I'd've just presumed any color differences were age-related. Even knowing it's literally what you do, my first guess there would not be "repainted Whiplash arm" or Kobra Khan, or whatever it was. GREAT JOB! Thanks for sharing!
Always love seeing your repairs as you go outside the box on stuff. We do that same thing with the plastic glue and sprues making 40k minis call it sprue goo and it is a great gap filler
Excellent work as always but to be frank I've never heard of this figure or seen one. An till your put it in your video always a real treat as you give us lot's of idea's. And some toys never heard of and some that bring back some . Great childhood memories thanks for your time in making these videos. Always so entertaining and some time's we learn new thing's. Thank you
Not a shabby job on a Wabi Sabi project. The origins line Scare-Glow cape is a rubbery material. I like yours better, might take a stab at it. The arm looks like a very close match with the chest on screen. Great job Dave. My best to you and the Mrs. in this holiday season. Repair on Brother....😎
It's just too risky on fragile plastic like this. one slip and you've ruined it. They also can melt the plastic. Much more control doing it by hand. Cheers
Nicely done, sir! Have you tried retro-brighting toys that are molded in colors other than white? I tried it with a Winston Zedemore figure a while back. The light teal parts had turned dark over time but after retro-brighting them they turned back to the original lighter teal. I wonder if that would work for glow in the dark pieces as well? Scareglow seems like he would be a good candidate to try it with.
Well it is more of a cloak than a cape just in the construction alone. Was thinking what is the definition of cloak, one search later, it is more of a weather barrier to cold, wind, and rain.🙂 Decent solution for that missing arm, too true that it is quite hard to run into spare Scareglow parts for a reasonable cost heh. Excellent painting work, not an easy pattern to replicate.
Toy-knit fleece would have been such a better material for Scareglow's original cape. I am fortunate enough to have a complete Scareglow, and his cape is that same stuff that the Vintage Prince Adam vest is made of, and it feels nasty.
@@toypolloi I actually have a alternate Havoc staff with my scare glow which is glow in the dark. I can dig it out and get you a picture if you want. I'm trying to remember the name of the toy line I may have to check with a buddy of mine they were kind of a Masters of the Universe knock off and one of the characters of that line has a Havoc staff that glows in the dark the top of the staff is a chubby bat with big wings and it was the staff I had with my scarecrows since I was like extremely young I didn't know it didn't go to that scare glow figure till about 2 years ago when I found out it was part of another toy line all together I always assumed it was the Havoc staff for scare glow;). My scare glow cape turn to powder at some point in the 90s I've had the figures since I was maybe seven or eight I thought it was from a contest because I've never seen them in stores originally thought it was from a contest or a mail away. I got mine in a box of Masters of the Universe figures from a thrift store when I was really young I'm 46 years old so do the math. Most of my Masters of the Universe toys came from thrift stores growing up. Always considered myself lucky to have the figure;). Damn if I could remember the name of that toy line right now they had the different little colored rubber gargoyles and one of the characters had big bat wings that came off his back the hero looks like He-Man with black hair and the figure of him is designed very similar to He-Man the hero and the villain each have a glow in the dark sword and the two swords fit together to make a different sword trying to remember the name of the toy line I think it had a cartoon.
@@KeldorTheWhite That's 100% right. I use one of the staffs from Blackstar with my scare glow it's similar to the Havoc staff that Skeletor has but it's a big chubby bat instead of a ram head
I'm at the part where you're cutting the piece off of Roboto little terrifying LOL have you used a dramatool in the past I've been meaning to get one myself the irony is I've had two or three and in a nutshell people keep borrowing without asking LOL. I've lost at least two drama tools that just disappeared off the bench in the workshop that one family member or another decided to loan to somebody without asking and the object never got returned I got one at a yard sale and one in a box of tools that somebody threw out and in both cases they just magically vanished lol. At some point I got to break down and get one on Facebook Marketplace or something like that
Lets have a moment of silence for Roboto's sacrifice.
I was shocked....
not a piece of Lego in sight!
*F*
Was totally thinking something like this or a "one armed man" joke from The Fugitive movie, lol!

Really looks great ... good job on the repair. You are a total master who has shown us how to give a 2nd life to our figures.
Thanks 👍
That was a great restoration. The arm is perfectly done all things considered.
Even Scareglow is giving the thumbs up on that new cape.
Well done as ever, my friend! One of my favorite MOTU characters so it's always a treat to see him featured; and thanks for the shout-out...I'm glad that halberd came in handy!
Thanks. I'd been keeping the weapon aside in the hope that one day I would get the figure to go with it. Thanks again. It fits perfectly.

Awesome restoration of that vintage MOTU Scareglow, Dave.
Impressive fix. I thought this would be a tough one considering the nature of the base figure, but you've produced a brilliant result!
Thanks. It came out better than I expected it to if I'm honest.
I dare to say that the custom arm looks better than the original one. Great video!
Thanks 😊

Absolutely brilliant 😮😮💀💀 and I'm not familiar with this figure he's really cool 😎😎 and still glows after all those years
Fantastic job. Glow in the dark paint can be very tricky to work with.
It really is! Still a bit patchy but good enough.
Fantastic job, sir!
Thank you! Cheers!
Hey Dave
Video was great even the second time around.
Happy Weekend to you and MrsTP 😊

The "TOY GALAXY" Theme throws me off every time haha
Great work! The painting with the details of the arm is a true masterpiece! And the cape is super cool, too!
Thank you so much 😀
Very cool! Nice to see figures saved.
Thanks!

great work Dave. i think your new arm looks better than the original on the figure. and should paint the other arm the same.
Thanks.
Your new arm actually looks better and matches the body color better. Perhaps paint the right arm too and it would look fantastic! Great job!
Very good job again 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Looking good, yes the color is a bit of, but you can always repaint it, or not.
Always fun to see you repair broken items!

Thanks. It works great for things like that.
@toypolloi you also did a good match for the arm as it is very close to the torso color
Excellent work as always but to be frank I've never heard of this figure or seen one.

The "Scareglow" character name was dropped in a Season 1 episode, but the character itself never made an appearance in the cartoon.
Thanks. He's a rare figure released at the end of the Motu line. So not the most common.
Thank you for letting me always nice to learn new thing's.
Thanks for the information and your time. alway interesting to watch as I've learned so much .watching your videos.
awesome video
Fantastic restoration. Well done!
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome work Dave! That cape looks amazing!
Thanks a bunch! 😊
Honestly I like the new arm more than the old arm. It looks like it has yellowed a lot. But it adds some character.
Thanks 👍
I can remember having to charge up an older scare glow with a flashlight to help it glow better! kind of a phantom of the opera type of character.
That was the fun part of glow in the dark toys. Then putting them under your jumper to see the glow.
Even in his initial sorry state he’s pretty cool- now he’s the dude though!
Left arm missing and no weapon? You could say he was disarmed.
I'll see myself out.

bonjour a vous ton travail es super bien fais bravo a vous

I actually think I like the look of this material over the original. Awesome share, Dave!
Will you be doing another Toy Polloi Annual this year?
Not this year. Cheers
Hey Dave, wouldn't a dremel have made short work of the shoulder removal on Roboto? What is your reasoning for not using one most of the time?
It's just too risky on fragile plastic like this. one slip and you've ruined it. They also can melt the plastic. Much more control doing it by hand. Cheers
@@toypolloi Thank you
I am 💯going to make a new cape for my vintage Randor

Excellent work. Do you scan parts you fabricate so that it's easier to do next time by 3d printing e.g the shoulder joint?
Please give galaxy warriors some love xxx
Great video. Have you figured out how to remove “redness” on his original arm? I think the cause of redness is his original cape.
Not yet. On this one it's just the plastic degrading. Don't think the cape has left any marks at all.
Was anyone else waiting on Dave Larson popping up?
Poor Roboto... and was that a Kobra Khan arm?
It was!
🤘🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🤘🏼
Well he's a good looking chap,,😅
Barbarossa should do spare arms for Scareglow…
Am I the only one who thinks Scareglow needs some crossed holsters for some six-guns, a good sword, and a codpiece?
time to invest in an airbrush, should help with makinig even coats. :)
Toy-knit fleece would have been such a better material for Scareglow's original cape. I am fortunate enough to have a complete Scareglow, and his cape is that same stuff that the Vintage Prince Adam vest is made of, and it feels nasty.
Toy knit is my go to as it just feels and looks correct to my eye. It's also very easy to work with.
