Apparently a US media site has attempted to do a version of HIGNFY. I showed up in one of my media feeds. I clicked on it thinking that the real HIGNFY had started the season early. I can't finds the words to accurately describe how terrible, uncreative, and unfunny it is. Even abysmal does not adequately describe how bad it is.
@worldcitizenra as a US citizen who loves the British version there's nothing wrong with the US version. They even kept the formula of one political and one satire team captain. You just don't like americans which I totally understand, leave the US version alone it's bringing real news to more people than most of our news outlets.
Don't try so hard. Just let it rush over you like sound and suddenly it will make sense. I'm a first generation scottish-american, and my family is partially from Glasgow. Trust me you can learn the accent
This version is usually a bit better than the shorter broadcast one, but this one is much, much better than the one that went out. Thanks for uploading!
Cheers for posting this I love this show have watched it snice the 90s. I live in Dublin but I can't afford me T.V so the phone is my only friend 😅 so again thanks for the upload ❤ yup yup from Eire
I'm so glad to see this back, and now the United States has our own version! They're a little rough around the edges because they're having to get used to the format but they are still giving reliable news in a highly digestible format as well as poking fun at the establishment.
I have to say, i was pleasantly surprised by Hignfy US. Roy Wood Jr. is funny and a good host, I looove Amber Ruffin and she's a good opposite to the other regular.
I gave you a thumbs up for the positive comment. However, I just watched one of the US shows. It didn't really poke fun at the establishment. Only Trump. Sorry to say I didn't find any of it funny enough to actually laugh at. It might take some time to find itself. It's not there yet imho.
Nope, they're the same quality you just don't like Americans. As a US citizen who watches World television I assure you the American version fits into the US media space exactly the same way the British one does in its country. The American show does what the British one does but for American audiences instead. You just don't like Americans which is understandable.
I think you have to give the US version some time to settle in. The first season of the UK version was clunkier than the show that it ultimately became by the mid-1990s
I like them both. American versions of British shows never work when they try to stick to closely to the original. I think the US version has done a very good job of using the concept, but letting the American comedians be themselves.
I love Ian getting an "Ian" mention in the last few moments, as "metal dectorists", like "trainspotters", do get rather a short shift! And coinage find from 6th century: nice!
Not all the time - but it does . And I should know - I'm not usually a fan, being an effeminate southern git and unable to understand him - and now I can ! ON HIGNFY ! And he's very bright !
@kurisensei Oh,indeed. Mr Bridges and his colleagues in standup must be very aware of how much their audience has been augmented, and how quickly. I can personally assure you that English-hating Scottish National Pride would never have effected such a change, had Mr B (who can,of course, speak perfect Received English)not been aware of the $$$ available. Expect him at any moment. May I ask what "kuri" as a prefix means ? Yours sincerely.
I'm stunned that they're about the only public that's been made about Roger Law passing. I'm astonished that I haven't seen an obituary, considering his prominence.
An American I lived in UK for five years, married to a man from East Coast (Aberdeen). There must be 5-7 distinct and individual accents in Scotland -- and they all have a merry time making fun of each other! Kevin's is pronounciation is superb -- you get every syllable distinctly articulated of a word you have never heard before: Glaswegians. I caught that look of four Engish persons looked completely at sea because THEY did not know what he was saying!
ngl i was very surprised when the last joke included a picture of not only a giant hand statue, but also what looks like the king of sweden on the right? at least it looks like him
I adore HIGNFY UK ……it makes the world seem a lot less frightening…living In Canada next door to the Orange Menace & his minions one needs an injection of British wit regularly…BTW the US version of HIGNFY is a bust❤️❤️❤️
Not defending the guy looking up after a question near the start, Do not know him. Defending the video evidence. I could see wanting to say several pages of text in response to a question and forgetting the exact question.
Even the Brits can't understand Bridges' accent. Nor does captioning. Nor do I. It is a shame, because he might be worth listening to, but we'll never know. Can not watch this three times over just because Kevin refuses to speak English.
Really? You appear to think everyone feels the same, but many have no problem with a strong Scots accent. I am Australian. I have no problem. Why do you blame him? Maybe your inability to pick up the patterns of different accents, (compared to average people, or people with a better understanding of accents), is the problem?
If the captions are appalling, I would suggest that is to do with yt being American. I have yet to experience a competent job of captions in English, for anyone.
If you don't understand an accent just listen for about 10 minutes once and it clicks. Dunno where you're from but I'm sure we bother to understand you, fair to expect the same.
That says more about your political leanings and closed mind. Ian is acknowledged as admirably, if unbendingly and annoyingly true to what he considers correct behaviour. On either side.
I’m fascinated by this. I’m from southern England and didn’t find anything he said difficult to grasp. He’s not using any Glaswegian slang or anything. Which bits troubled you?
Thank you! I really missed this show.
Really? How many jabs did you get? This show is for MORONS
The UK is indeed fortunate to have such a witty, clever and entertaining news satire programme.

HIGNFY? Bunch of ignorant boomers who think Ukraine is winning the war against Russia and injections saved us all. Such “clever” people.
@@worldcitizenraI actually heard it's surprisingly good. Now I really want to see for myself.

Thanks for the upload 😊
Finally! I was beginning to despair, but the gang is back! Now, if I could only master that Scottish accent...

Good to have you back. Much better than Us-presidential Debate....i mean plural, Debilities.
More Kevin Bridges, please.
So fresh and so clean!

Thanks I have been missing this

The US HIGNFY is pretty damn tame honestly... but it's warming up. Hope they renew for a 2nd season.
Three of the wittiest comics. Great stuff.
Thanks for posting
Thank you!
I've a feeling Ian wanted to comment on the Israel/Palestine situation.
Still a good episode. Thanks.
you're back, thank gewd
This is SO much better than the new US version.

The US version comes off like some sort of Colin Quinn production. Stick to the original.

Kevin is great in this.
Love his grin when Paul moves in closer
Notice how Kev's voice - or,rather, his accent - has changed ?

"...I think Jeffrey Epstien's cell is available."🤯❤️
Class.
I'm glad to see the subtitles are getting better on Kevin Bridges accent.
National institute of Proctologists 😂🎉
Wonder if the panel knew the guy on the right is The King of Sweden 😊
This female comedian impersonator is really pleased with herself.
just a note - Rishi says there is a 'real buzz here'- he's in Birmingham, so that would be a big red buz or a yallow buz?
I live in Canada and missed the news.. What was Ian referring to at the start?
His car got shot at
@@simonklein6588WHAT!?!?
Turns out it wasn't a bullet
In the end, the proctologist joke, the guy on the right is the swedish king!
Paul's face at 25:50 is spectacular. He clearly doesn't... quite... know... where Ian's going. 😅
I do need the subtitles when Kevin Bridges talks. Not being English I have a very hard time understanding him.
Kevin is not english! I'm neither english nor Scottish, but I understand everything he says
I’m Scottish and I have a problem with his accent and diction. Very annoying

What did host Kevin Bridges mean by "Hostage Dog"? I thought within the context, that it was a hot dog but Google was no help.
A sausage dog. IE a Dachshund

Breakfast buffet at the hotel

The American version of HIGNFY, is going to be dreadful. They don't have the ability to be witty, just crass
I simply have not had the courage to even attempt a look at it. It's like asking the Chinese to make TexMex.
Is there actually an audience in the studio? Because this canned laughter is so annoying...
