I really enjoyed the two Pisgah videos I like all the trail details you give and your narration you do a great job. Our group will be heading to FATS in Augusta Ga. October 3 maybe you can get up there one day and do a video. Be safe out there my friend and thanks for keeping it clean.
Thanks so much Mike! I've yet to have the chance to make it to FATS. It's on my to-do list, just haven't figured out when. Hope you guys have fun out there, heard that it's beautiful
The second episode even better than first one (at least for us who watching it....lol.) .Have to admit its brutal to have so much climbing between the runs, you have to be proud of yourself, seriously !!! Kind of disappointed you still don't have on your machine chain guide and bash guard, well you will know for next time,,,, Thank you for great episode, anyway when will we see your brand new bike from some fine sponsor,,,,, hope you are working on that part too, you deserve it very much, cheers V!
Thanks so much Verdon, really appreciate the words of encouragement. The Pisgah enduro was a great experience, I'm really happy to have done it. Funny enough, I have never had chain drop issues. After I replaced the chainring its as good as new but for my next race I will definitely consider buying a minimalist chainguide. I've tried to work with YT in the past but did not get much interest, I really enjoy the Jeffsy, it fits my riding style so well. For now, I'm thinking of going with the Jeffsy 29 when the 2020's come out. Cheers!
You said your goal was to finish and you did, plus you gained hard learned lessons. It is great you share your experience, I hope to remember that even if not racing when an issue occurs you save time by taking time to resolve the problem instead of waiting. Additionally despite the problems you quickly adopted a good attitude and that is very hard to do, great post.
Yes! Sometimes its hard to keep a good attitude in those moments, but the way I see it, getting bummed will only make it worse. Sorry I'm answering weeks later, TH-cam didn't send me email notifications and I missed a ton of comments.
You did good, i was impressed by your skills in getting it back running and didnt give up. You also taught me that if you drop your chain you should probably fix it before something else could happen. I probably would of done the same thing you did and keep going
I was definitely set on completing it. Had some frustrating moments getting the chain out, but thankfully it worked. It was about 50% knowing what I was doing and 50% just brute force haha!
I likely would have bailed on this. Like everyone else has said, bravo for keeping it going! And for not editing it out! Believe me, it, umm, was also entertaining? Good job Stefano. We can't be heroes every day!
Thanks Julio! Glad you enjoyed the video. I do my best to portray the reality of mtb, not all rides are smooth, I think its important to show that happens and how it can make us better riders. Sorry I'm answering weeks later, TH-cam didn't send me email notifications and I missed a ton of comments.
As a brand new serious MTBer I am incredibly thankful you uploaded this because I absolutely would make the same mistakes and many more than I see you not making. Also, your camera setup is seriously sweet. I love that it's so smooth to watch.
Really happy you found the video useful and also liked watching it, Daniel! This sport, as with many others, you never stop learning! The camera setup is just a hero 4 + an evo ss gimbal and some patience in color grading in post.
I would've been demoralized and sat out the rest of day had I gone through that mechanical. You managed both the physical and mental challenges very well! Great video and great lesson for all us. It took a lot to post this video for you I'd imagine, so thank you for doing it, Stefano. 🤙🏽
Thanks Mohammed! Its was a really tough day for sure, but I didn't want to just sit on the sideline, I feel like letting it bum you out can only make things worse. Glad you enjoyed the video. Sorry I'm answering weeks later, TH-cam didn't send me email notifications and I missed a ton of comments.
Kudos to you. I think it showed a lot of heart finishing the stage after the mechanical and the endo. I'm glad you posted the video. We all have bad rides/bad days/bad decision...really enjoyed the self-coaching you gave yourself around the 11:00 mark. I'll look forward to your video from next year's race.
Heartbreak vs Resilience... And it looks like Resilience won! Congrats Stefano! (though that hammock looked mighty tempting, haha!). Here in SoFla, I just rode Markham for my (insert large number here) birthday, so life is good, right? -Chuck
Thanks Chuck! It was a super tough day, but incredibly rewarding. In the end, i cherish this kind of ride in an odd way, it's an opportunity to learn so much. As long as you're on a bike, life is always good. Happy belated bday
Really enjoyed both vids on the enduro and kudos for having the mental fortitude to finish the race. Did you ever feel "underbiked" with the Jeffsy?! I'm currently in the market for a new bike and the jeffsy pro comp 140/140 and the fezzari la sal 160/150 bikes are at the top of my list(value for money). That said I was favoring the the la sal for the travel, I live in GA and look to ride in NC, TN and AL alot and also do some enduros. Would I be better served to get the longer travel or the Jeffsy was sufficient enough for the trails there? sorry for the long post lol
Sorry I took a bit to read this. I never felt underbiked with the Jeffsy, I've taken it to all over the place including bike park and done great. That being said, if you're a seriously fast rider racing enduros, then it may be worth getting something beefier. If you're a regular rider who likes to do a few races here and there, either bike will be great imho.
That rear wheel lock-up was heard,, that sucks man but that's serious MB riding/racing but certainly better than falling and injuring yourself so look at it as a positive outcome [almost] sometimes you pay the price for procrastination ---BKXC was at a race in BC, I just checked closer, my mistake
I used to get the butterflies real bad rolling up to the staging lanes when I raced BMX. They would calm down as I focused more on getting to the start line and killin it.
Pisgah Enduro is brutal. Kudos to anyone that finishes, chain or no chain.
It was indeed brutal, but so worth it! Thanks man.

Awesome attitude. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks John, was a hard fun day for sure.

@@BlindstuffMTB it looks and rides great
I'm really impressed with your attitude after all the things that happened, thanks for taking us along.
Thanks George! No point in giving up because of the mishaps, gotta make the best of the opportunities we are given. Happy you enjoyed the video.

Thanks so much Joe! Its all part of the ride. I really enjoyed it regardless of the issues and really learned a lot.
The worst day of riding is better than the best day of work. Great stuff Stefano!
A day on the bike is always a good thing! Thanks, Matt!
Don't be so hard on yourself man. Take that as an opportunity to work on your mind game :)
Oh, don't misunderstand, it was still awesome. Any day on the bike is worth it.
Bummer on the dropped chain and the otb!! But you finished!
I really was not going to let that be an option, had to finish it. Felt like a great victory.
Heartbreak vs Resilience... And it looks like Resilience won!

No need to feel humbled. Lots learned in this one. You'll return better equipped next time.
Still worth it, big challenges tech a lot more than smooth experiences.

Nice video. Are you running a gimbal??
Thanks Gilbert! Yes. An EVO SS gimbal + a Hero 4.

No doubt, always better to have the bike take a hit than to get hurt. Thanks!
I used to get the butterflies real bad rolling up to the staging lanes when I raced BMX. They would calm down as I focused more on getting to the start line and killin it.
Same, I always had that problem in other forms of racing too. Its crazy how you can then zone out and just send it haha.
Darn.....I learned something from this video, glad you made it out alright 👍.
Thanks, still totally worth it despite the issues!
Bummer it went down that way, but way to walk away with a benchmark and some mtblife lessons. Next year will be better!
Definitely looking forward to next year; still had an awesome time this year. No point in ruining the experience because of a mishap.
Finish.
