    Take a look at your faces when rebecca was singing ( laughter) and seconds later when ted was having an attack ( sheer concern) the power of the script captured!!

    Hannah Waddingham didn't want to sing Let It Go (as a professional singer she avoided it for years), but when challenged to find a song which was more appropriate she couldn't. She did consider Reflection from Mulan which I think could've worked.
    She decided to sing live every time and the shoot was apparently like 8 hours. That's a lot of Frozen.

    • @jessaandalexwatch

    - Absolutely no apologies needed, I'm still finding it surreal seeing the two of you in the same shot.
    - Yup, one of my fave episodes ever as well.
    - 14:30 You. Rock.
    - definitely forgetting one more... :/ OH RIGHT... glad you kept 'it in', one of the quality reasons why I keep coming back to view stuff with the both of ya ;)

    It's not the fact that Roy knows the lyrics to let it go, he's got a young niece whom he clearly spends a lot of time with, so that makes perfect sense, it's the fact that he can't help but mouth the words

    Just a couple of fun facts guys:
    - Hannah and Jason improvised that scene of Ted being helped outside the club;
    -Rebecca was always supposed to “save” Ted, but her singing was a change made after they casting Hannah;
    - On the original script of this episode it was supposed to be Rebecca at Ted door, but Bill Lawrence said they thought Ted/Rebecca relationship was too important for a nightstand;
    - Hannah didn’t want to sing Let it Go, but Jason said it was the perfect song for the characters in that episode, and they dressed Rebecca to be Elza inspired.

    • @mayavmarinho
      @mayavmarinho 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      also something that i find very interesting in the panic attack scene is that Ted hears 3 voices, Henry, Michele and Rebecca. And what it’s even more interesting is that when he is coming back to himself, Michele’s voice merges with Rebecca’s
      sorry for my english guys! 😄

      Brett singing along with Hannah singing is just Brett, he is, as Hannah says "he's a theatre queen". Brett has been a writer and a big theatre fan for his whole life and that is just Brett, singing along with the song. Hannah said when she first met Brett on set he was such a fanboy of hers he just was in her face quoting all the plays and shows he's seen her in. I've seen you in this, i've seen you in that.. etc.

    a truly fantastic reaction ladies. Alex smiling at all the best friendship moments and Jessa tearing up as she was re-experiencing it all... was the best. imho, this series is as good as TV gets and this episode stands above the rest in this season. thank you! this was made even better by you two reacting to it together!

  • @SchulzEricT

    2 things:
    1 - I just LOVE that Ted just signs the divorce papers. Any other (lesser) show would belabor that forever, spend several eps on him being shitty to his wife but trying to make us sympathetic towards him, and maybe they'd get back together (because he guilted her into it, but the show would frame it like a triumphant, happy thing). In this show, they're just like... nah. They're divorced now.
    2 - I believe my favorite Lasso moment - at least from season 1 - is next episode, so... excited for that.

    Agreed. In many ways this is quite a traditional type of show but one of the things that makes it a breath of fresh air IMO is, it constantly zigs when the trope says zag. Great reaction too BTW (Jessa's delight when Alex catches Roy mouthing the 'Frozen' lyrics was one highlight for me :).

    FYI...since i know you both watched Bridgerton so there won't be any spoiling for you, and at this point in 2023, if someone hasn't watched Bridgerton, then sorry, shit is going to get spoiled! The song playing when Ted is signing the divorce paperwork and Keely & Roy have their moment, is "Strange" by Celeste, which was in Bridgerton as an instrumental version, it starts playing during Daphne & Simon's, "I Burn for You" speech on their honeymoon.
    I had only heard the instrumental version until watching Ted Lasso, but i thought it sounded super familiar and then once i paid attention to the words...UGH! "Isn't it strange how people can change, from strangers to friends, friends into lovers, and strangers again." Good Lord...talking about bringing every memory of every break-up i've ever had together all at once. OOF!
    Anyways...love your reactions, you two are awesome! Keep it up! Cheers!

    The scene of Roy mesmerised with Rebecca performing "Let it Go" wasn't scripted. It was really Brett Goldstein reacting sincerely to Hannah Waddingham singing.

  • @bereasonable8018
    @bereasonable8018 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Wait. Sassy did meet Ted before knowing of his connection to Rebecca. She was headed to have a cigarette and saw him at the concierge desk asking for a fax machine. She said she was attracted to him on sight. He didn’t expect her to show up at his door and was emotionally depressed. He was just divorced and needed emotional support. I’m happy they got together that night.

    Loving these reacts! So looking forward to the next episode. My favorite moment of the series so far is there. To me, the barometer of how good a show is depends on how excited you get when you know someone else started watching and you have to make an extra effort not to say anything because you don't want to accidentally spoil things. Ted Lasso is definitely one of those shows. :)

    Wait ... no ... you have to sit on the same side in the order of the channel's name! It's so confusing with you on the opposite sides! Just kidding ... kind of ... but another great reaction. I only now realized watching this reaction that of course Roy knows the words to 'Let It Go' because he's probably seen it a thousand times with his niece. Man, the closer we get to the end of the season the harder it is to wait a week between reactions! Also, have you reacted to 'Fleabag' (or watched it)?? Man, I think you would love it cuz it's genius and each season is only about 2-1/2 hours long with 8 25-ish minute episodes per season. ALSO, 'Russian Doll' season 2 starts next month on Netflix and if you've never seen that, it's SO good. AND 'Barry' with Bill Hader (which takes place in LA) is amazing and season 3 is also starting in April so it would be a great time to react to that one. And, wait, do you both live in LA now (not that I knew where anyone lived/lives anyway)? I'm moving back there in May so I'm sure we'll just run into each other ALL the time cuz it's such a small town (that sounds kinda creepy/stalker-ey but totally not what I meant)! Okay, bye-ee!

      @@jessaandalexwatch - That makes sense as you're both intelligent and artistic women. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a freakin' genius. I thought s1 was a perfect stand-alone work (and the one woman show that she did that started it all was fantastic, too), but then s2 was so amazing. That first episode of s1 is one of the best episodes of TV I've ever seen. So excited to hear Phoebe has the green light for a new show with Amazon, although it's still a mystery as to what it's about and who is in it (hell, they might not even have cast it yet). I also still need to finish 'Killing Eve' but none of the seasons have lived up to s1 when PWB was fully involved in writing it.

    This is probably my favourite as well and I had the same thought when Sassy came around. I should have learnt to trust the show by now. They never take the cliche path. I was so hesitant to even start watching it because it looked like a typical fish out of water comedy and they'd go for the easy joke but they never do. Despite how over the top some of them can be, especially Ted, the show feels far more realistic than most other...sitcom I guess you'd call it. I didn't think I'd like Roy or Keeley at the start and Rebecca seemed to be the typical antagonist but none of them are caricatures even though they easily could have fallen into that trap. They change and grow throughout the series. It's kind of amazing this show is as good as it is.

    Of course you were suspicious of sassy. Because tv shows so very rarely show actual, strong, supportive, realistic female friendships. It’s always some high school, immature, catty, competitive version of female friendship as imagined by a male writer.

  • @ESJonas
    @ESJonas 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Ted lasso plays with expectations and if you find every spot where tv would throw a cliche, you can anticipate there will be a twist.
    At first I didn't want to watch it cause I am a Brazilian who doesn't get why people love football so much. (More than half of Brazilians don't care for the sport btw). That was the first surprise. It's not about football.
    It's almost an anti-cliche show.
    Cliche list:
    Friend jealousy to generate conflict... Nope
    Making a big deal out of something small dragged during a whole episode or episodes... Nope
    Dragging the beginning of a relationship for keeping the audience's sake... Nope
    Taking people ages to realize they were wrong... Why??? Of course not.
    Focus on race, because a big part of TV thinks everything is about race... Nah
    Making all men sexists and idiots and all women smart to spark gender disputes... No!!
    Making people fall into a group stereotype... Come on...
    It's possible to make great TV without so much forced drama and with people making right decisions and learning with it and people falling into holes but with motives, not just as a plot generation device.
    This show caught me by surprise.

    I have a few great movie suggestions for you if you haven't seen these they're great films.
    1. The Changeling (Horror, 1980) with George C. Scott.
    2. Deathtrap (Mystery/suspense thriller 1982) with Christopher Reeve, and Michael Caine.
    3. Parenthood (comedy 1989) with Steve Martin, Rick Moranis, Mary Steenburgen, Keanu Reeves, Martha Plimpton, Dianne Wiest, and Joaquin Phoenix.
    4. Soapdish (comedy 1991) with Sally Field, Robert Downey Jr, Kevin Kline, Carrie Fisher, Whoopi Goldberg, Elizabeth Shue, Cathy Moriarty, and Teri Hatcher.
    5. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (comedy 1988) with Steve Martin, Michael Caine, and Glenne Headly.
    These are all great films, and I promise you'll love them all if you give them a watch. And what's great is most are all star casts, and they are all very well written, and not many TH-cam channels have done reactions to them. In fact I don't think I've found any reaction video that covers Deathtrap.

    I absolutely agree that Rebecca needs to own up to the shit she's doing to the team right now, but I did not appreciate Sassy victim blaming Rebecca for disappearing when she, as a psychologist, should know that isolating the victim from their support systems is one of the most common things abusers do to keep control.

    I'm sorry, but no. Sassy "calling out" Rebecca is not a good thing that should be praised. Rebecca was in a verbally and emotionally abusive relationship for 12 years. He literally said used to tell her what to eat and wear which Hannah Waddingham added in because she herself was in a verbally abusive relationship and wanted to shed more light on the subject. So the fact that Rebecca's best friend, who is supposedly an amazing child pyshcologist, stood there and victim blamed her does not sit right with me at all. Also, the fact that she nicknamed her "Stinky" simply because Rebecca was more beautiful than her is gross and reeks of jealousy. I can't believe how many people give this all a pass. I've enjoyed the reactions you girls have had to these epsiodes and your discussions as well, but I'm very hestitant to continuing watching and supporting you after the way you condone Sassy's speech.
