Wonderfully narrated as usual. I was very amused as to Loveday's description of the house as reflecting early Victorian furnishing as somewhat less than stylish and drawing a comparison of the maid to the furnishing as somewhat faded and sour. Very enjoyable story. Mr Hawk was also amusing in his worry about his wife's disapproval and his total bewilderment regarding the situation.
A little stressful that a young woman couldn't pick her own husband and had to go to such lengths to marry who and when she wanted. Even down to having her letters read by others.

I only have a BA Degree nothing higher, but never heard of most of these more obscure ones you have on your channel. It is good to have a female detective & author who wrote her in as female. I think she was beyond her time in her modern vision w/strong women characters.
I have a Master's in English Literature, have been a professor, and have not heard of them. These are not in the Canon. There are so many good works not covered in academic studies as they are considered pop or pulp fiction I guess.
