Oh and you must own the entire album if you don't already. Listening to it straight through is an immersive joy. Streisand is in all her glory singing these wonderful songs - and it shows.
Barbra IS Phenomenal!!! Five of my favorite Barbra movies are Hello Dolly, What's Up Doc, The Main Event, Yentl & The Mirror Has Two Faces and yes - she sang the title tracks & more....
The song is from the Broadway musical (1957) and subsequent film(s) (1961 and 2021) of “West Side Story.” Music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.
Leonard Bernstein composed the entire score for "West Side Story", lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. There's a number of Bernstein videos, and a channel. One cites the three classical composers referenced in it's composition (Beethoven, Mahler, forgot the 3rd) and his unique contribution. I cry every time I hear her singing this song. Heaven comes out of her mouth. Check out her live performance "A Happening in Central Park", 1963. Went with my mother as a little girl.
@@RobertaSirgutz Actually, "A Happening ..." concert was June 1967. It aired on TV in September 1968. (I was about to wonder why they waited over a year to air it, then realized that was the same month/year "Funny Girl" was released! 😄)
It’s so refreshing to have younger people explore and appreciate the “voice”. FYI- an abbreviated version of this song is available on the “one voice” album. That performance is one of my favorites
If you would like to sample Streisand music that is less familiar outside of her fandom, I highly recommend selecting a track from the 1973 album "Barbra Streisand and Other Musical Instruments". It was (as I think all albums should be) not created with a top-40 hit single in mind, but is instead simply an orchestral showcase for her incredible voice, (and among my favourite Streisand Albums). I have also never seen it featured on ANY reaction videos.
Hard for me to believe next year will already be the 40th anniversary of The Broadway Album. Yikes. "Something's Coming" alright......and it's called the retirement home. 😯 (not quite yet) Thanks for another great Streisand reaction!
@@BrettTwinSavage Don't make me laugh David, it increases wrinkles! To you as well. Hope you have a great holiday week. I'm off now to do some last-minute shopping...as usual. (Bah humbug)
Brother, maybe a reaction to the Christmas duet of Celine and Rosie O'Donnell - Do You Hear What I Hear? The only video version of this duet on YT is on the channel -Jumz Marzo- from 4:50 minutes, title of the video - "Céline Dion | These Are Special Times | A CBS TV SPECIAL 1998 | Full Concert | CDST L.U" If you could find a moment it would be magical :) There is an incredibly funny story behind this duet, which is revealed during the performance. All the best🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
Mother is another great song from Barbra.. Also the Beatles sang this song.. But Babs is the better version I feel. Thanks for your reaction to 'Somewhere'.
The absolute Queen! ❤
Billboard Magazine and Billboard 200 named Streisand greatest solo artist of all time!
Yes, this is another stunning performance by Barbra Streisand!

Barbra has been my all time favorite female singer since 1976.

Just the greatest singer on this green earth!
Barbra Streisand at her best...
She’s amazing 🤩

@BrettTwinSavage wow. I was about 6, and it was a SEA of humanity! Mother was a big fan.
Love you too.

This video was directed by William Friedkin, director of the movie "The exorcist".
Somewhere💙
Great reaction, Jarryl! Looking great and sounding great! BTW, this was filmed at The Apollo Theater.
That reaction is fantastic.
This album, The Broadway Album I recommend
West side story. Holy cow, so beautiful.
if Barbra isn't ranked in the top 3 on ANY best female vocalist list of all time... it's a fraudulent list.
To me she’s number one.
Great reaction. You should listen to her version of Since I Fell For You. Amazing. Happy Holidays!!

Barbra singing Never Have Seen Snow on that album is very beautiful.
There’s also an Aretha cover from 1973. This song is from 1985’s The Broadway Album, the winner of 2 Grammy Awards. Still a relevant song.
