"Kicks above the waistline" means he's not there for sex.

He is contrasting the pleasures of the city that Bangkok is famous for with the pleasures of chess. The make you humble and tough guys tumble is about the high level of competition of the chess tournament. Sometimes I think there is an aspect of "methinks he protests too much " in the lyrics rejection of the pleasures of BKK.

❤❤❤❤Written (music) by the two male members of ABBA and (Lyrics) Tim Rice. It doesn't get better than that. ❤❤❤❤ Mpwa, I believe at this point in the stage musical, the character who is singing is organizing a chess tournament that is planned to take place in Bangkok, Thailand. And the lyrics are contrasting the city with the game.

The line "In a show that´s got everything but Yul Brynner" refers to the american actor who played on stage and movie in the musical "The King and I" King Mongkut of Siam. The thai goverment saw it as an offensive because they thought the king had been portrayed as too naiv.

You’re concentrating on a small snippet of the song. Did it not occur to you that this song was written for Chess the musical?
Did you notice that there was more references to the game of Chess , than references to a Katoey?

Chess was a musical from the mid 1980's-decent hit in the UK, but a huge flop in the US. The soundtrack album was a huge hit though & this song & I Know Him So Well by Elaine Page & Barbara Dickson were huge hit singles. This song was unsurprisingly banned in Thailand & remains so nearly 40 years later.

Rock Opera, not Musical. There is a difference.
