Great video! It’s important to note that not harming animals was important to many early Christians, and some would argue a central component of the early church. St. John Chrysostom said that eating flesh is demonic, and James brother of Jesus was a dedicated vegetarian. Something to consider when contemplating the ascetic Christian lifestyle.

So in a way we have been bought at a very steep price and we must be loyal to our Lord like for example in Hosea where Ephraim despite her being a lady of the night Hosea bought her back to live with a new purpose just like the Lord bought us for us to live in a new creation that through faith grace abounds!

James 2:14-26: “What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,’ but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? So also faith without works is dead.” (NKJV)
James 2:24: “You see then that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone.” (NKJV)
Hebrews 11:6: “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (NKJV)
      It's both, right?

How do people find security when the temporal signs of it - things like a roof over their heads, warm clothes and food - are taken away? It is comforting to remember that Jesus knows what this feels like. He enjoyed the solace of a home, but gave that up during his ministry. For anyone lamenting the absence of a home, possessions, or money, Jesus experienced the same earthly insecurity as he moved closer and closer towards his death and resurrection.
The faithful mentioned in Scripture have been where we are too; we keep excellent company. Exile is a prominent Biblical theme, therefore, one can imagine the likes of Noah, Moses, Ruth, and Naomi deciding which of their few possessions were necessary and having to give up virtually everything else. Many of the Bible’s main characters moved or were displaced, facing uncertainty and hardship.
Into the abyss of emptiness. For as a bird cannot fly with one wing,. So doth thy Bird of Wisdom. Need two wings of Power and Love.

    ‭Colossians 2:18-23 ESV‬
[18] Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind, [19] and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God. [20] If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations- [21] “Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” [22] (referring to things that all perish as they are used)-according to human precepts and teachings? [23] These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.

    • @patrickwinegar5635

@murutaine only select translations say false or voluntary humility, mainly paraphrase translations.
Other terms that are used in literal translations are; ascetic practices, self-abasement, pious self-denial, etc.
The point I'm making is that self regulation isn't the goal of Christianity.
Christ didn't die and give us his Holy Spirit so we could then try to attain "righteousness" on our own.
Paul goes into great detail about this in galatians.
He says those who try to attain righteousness though works of the law are severed from Christ and have fallen from grace.
The only reference to "falling from grace" is trying to "work your way to heaven".
The transformation that Paul is pointing to in colossians only comes through prayer and the renewal of your mind and regeneration of your spirit; a work of the Holy Spirit.
I understand the feeling to add self to the equation, but we know that Jesus is the way and the narrow gate that we must enter through.
If he is the way we must do it the way he did it.
      ‭Hebrews 5:7-8 ESV‬
[7] In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence. [8] Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered.

This is contrary to the word of God. Depriving oneself from life’s necessities does not make one spiritual. That is human works. The unbeliever can do this. God’s will for us is to be saved through belief upon the person and work of Christ and to come to the epignosis knowledge of the Truth. Grow in His grace and knowledge. In other words study His Word. That is the ultimate form of worship to God. It is what He can do for us, not what we can do for Him.
