Mike, one heck of a nice job fitting your solid filler panel in ! I went thru the same exact fitting problem, about 6 months ago when filling my 56' OEM vent louvered panel with a solid cowl filler panel from Classic Industries. I believe they source it from Dynacorn, Camarillo, CA. Of course it's better then the alternative.. having nothing. Keep up the good work ! Dan G. Clovis, CA
Thanks bud I appreciate that. Ugh I really hate body work but I have to at least get it decent so that I can assemble and drive the truck, until I can get it to a paint and body guy that’s a true artist.
Ha! My cowl vent is the exact same color as mine. When I bought my truck it was in primer but the cowl vent was that rusty color. What a coinkidink!! I bought a delet too!! I bought mine from premier street rods in havasu. Mine lays flat however the ends not so much.
@@79_Trucker I’m thinking of leaving the A-pillar drains open (even opening them up a bit more as they have a little rot). What are you planning for yours?
Yea Mike I'm working on a 55 chevy pu some of the after market parts you get don't resemble anything. It's just like well I just threw that money away.
Thats a great question! Im debating that right now actually. On one hand leaving them open is easy and God forbid any moisture gets in, it can still escape. But closing them off, prevents rodents, road moisture and dirt from getting in… not sure yet.
Is that the only purpose of that panel? Vent the fender? I hadn't even considered deleting mine but if that's its only function I'll probabaly delete mine as well
@@intheshoptv I'm thinking about looking into possibly using some stainless steel wool and fitting it in the drain openings. Breathable, rodent and bug resistant, and won't rust. Your thoughts..? Rgds, Dan G. Clovis, CA. 56' custom Cab build
@@dangonchoroff8413 funny, I just asked in a fb group, for opinions on whether I should leave mine open or close them up. Im leaning towards open as SOME water, even if condensation is still likely to get in there. The stainless wool is a cool idea, not sure what Im going to do yet honestly but I like where you’re going. I even thought about closing them and just adding a small fitting and drain tubing 🤷🏻♂️
ANOTHER AWESOME VIDEO. Now that I see that this is only going to be a 12 minute and 8 second job, I’m definitely going to do it.
LOL
@@kennethgray3794 thanks! Ugh, if only!!! Im STILL working on it lol
So much cleaner looking than those vents. Been meaning to shave mine, those panels always warp so easily though. Nice work man
Thank you brother, appreciate that!
Wow! I will have to do this to mine when I start metal work on the cab. That looks great!
@@cameronadams8405 thank you! Good luck with your project

That looks a lot better than keeping the vent there
Right? Wish it fit better out of the box but it is what it is.

@@MScott-y4g its so bad. Some companies doors arent even worth it. Better off with a rotted out original unfortunately
What will you do with the bottom drain holes now that the vent is closed off?
