Hello there, thank you for this video, I am having a layover of 19 hours in Istanbul and was wondering if I arrived at 17:35 and took the hotel transit option can I still benefit from the 08:30 to 11:30 tour with Touistanbul? Did you notice anyone having the same situation while you were there?

My wife and tried Turkish Airlines twice to Thailand from the US and on both trips they gave us some excuse in why we didn’t qualify for a hotel nor a city tour when we had long layovers. We also even had business class tickets and their business class lounge denied us use of their sleep rooms/pods. Never again!

I flew from Cairo to Chicago with a missed connection in Istanbul. The room is provided because of Turkish law. They had to pay my room and two meals and reimburse my Visa to get into Turkey. I loved it. The next morning I only walked around for 45 minutes outside of hotel because I was exhausted from the long day of traveling.

Service of our airlines her in the US are eroded to the bottom. As long as all of them are on the same page, no competition, they will never be at level of airlines of other country, 3rd world country, less developed countries. Our airports are outdated as well.

I got my free 13 hour hotel stay at the the 5 star Kaya Fair & Convention Hotel. My layover is 20 hours but that's why chose Turkish Airlines. It's great and everything is well organised. Fantastic breakfast, lunch and dinner! Better than the Green Park. Although it is far from the city centre, the metro and metro bus are nearby to explore the city.

Istanbul and St Petersburg,Russia are my two favorite cities..I have a bad back, knees and legs so flying long haul in economy is out for me..thank god i can afford to fly business class,i had my share of economy in my younger years and did get upgraded often.Flying to Athens in October with an 8 hour layover in Istanbul but will relax in the lounge..I am spending 4 days in Izmir which is only an hour and 15 minute flight from Athens.I did fly to Istanbul 6 years ago from Washington DC in economy and the seat layout were 2=5=2 which had ample space and food was incredible with Raki, beer and all the drinks u wanted throughout the flight..Things has really changed ...not fun anymore..

Thanks to Erdoğan, the country, in particular Turkish Airlines, the Aviation sector, this Airport has progressed as it is.
And if you want to be an ambitious country you need a strong Leader as Erdoğan.
Before Erdogan, everybody talked about the potentials of Türkiye, but nobody had the courage to realize.

Without our president Istanbul would be like dustbin. As it was 25 years ago, the year when ERDOĞAN got the control of the whole Istanbul and turned it into its present situation.
Unlike you, pacemaker activists all around the world sees his ambition to make the world a better place. Everyone in the world see how he tries hard to give a better life for people in need, esp in Africa, Somalia, Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq.
Those, who don't listen to their countries' media, come Turkey which makes us the 4th most visited country..
İşte böyle sevgili can. Allah bu "yabancılardan" razı olsun, ülkesine yabancılardan daha "yabancı" olanlara da akıl versin, göz versin, kulak versin...

It took me a bit to guess you're Hawaiian. I flew Turkish Airlines from Washington DC to get to South Africa. The flight experience was great. I love those flight kit packets they give you. Those were never used, but I gave them to my baby nieces in Panama. The flight attendant was very gracious when I requested a couple of the childrens activity packets (even I though I don't have kids), and I explained they're for the little relatives (typical Hispanic family issues) at home. I also flew Qatar to get to the UK for a week which was the service was amazing. Then it was Avianca back to Panama via Colombia. After this CV Crisis is over, I'm traveling the Pacific Side of the world.

Curious, have you thought about trying the three longest flights when they start up regular service, NY to Sydney, London to Sydney and NY to Singapore? All 17 to 20 hours non-stop. I saw a review on NY to Singapore where there are 4 seats in economy, back of the plane where’s it’s like first class because there’s no seats next to you.

How did you end up in a window seat on a LONG haul?
Great expression at 11:42. It reminded me of my first ANA flight. Got the meal and asked the flight attendant 'what is this?' as I pointed to some round things. She looked and said (and I quote): 'Some kind of fish'. So I put that to the side and ate the rest. I found out later that it might have been scallops. Its like the line from Sean Connery in an airplane in HIGHLANDER; 'I do not eat anything that I cannot easily discern.

the employee benefits charge is wild, especially that they're declaring it--i guess theyre trying to guilt you into being okay with paying someone else's benefits. 😬 My longest travel day was probably 26 hours? maybe longer with the time to get to airports and on trains! LGA to SFO to ICN, then trains and subway down to Gwangju.

    • @grrrltraveler
      @grrrltraveler  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Are you still in Gwangju? That’s a city I’ve not actually been.
Yeah I just researched it- employers have a employee healthcare mandate making it more expensive to run their business so many restaurants shift the costs to customers in an additional surcharge tax.
Of course they request a tip but one of 17-20% vs 10-20%.
      Avoid SFO.

Did I miss something? I never heard what model plane for each flight? So...doesn’t help much since a Turkish airlines has a vast variety of different models in their fleet.

Hello, I found your video very helpful. My 2 sons (aged 16 & 17) will be travelling on their own for the first time with a 14 hr layover in Turkey. I’m going to have them avail to the free hotel accommodation but do they needs Visas since they’re leaving the airport? Did you have to obtain a Visa? Thank you!

    Question.
i have 14hrs layover at istanbul airport, so i understood from from your very helpful video that we have to make our way to Hotel desk after landing at istanbul airport, but what about our lugage?? do we have to collect it and re book or we just make our way to Hotel in shuttle?

faridjabba yes, i followed your advise.
My luggage was checked out at İstanbul airport, was given 5 stars stay, picked and dropped at airport, free breakfast at hotel. Impressive.

Hello 😊 lovely detailed video. I’m also traveling from DFW in few days to and having a 21hrs layover at Istanbul. I got a complimentary hotel for my layover too. I have 2 questions please. I saw a bus taking you to the hotel. Was that already provided by the hotel? Did you pay for it? My last question 😊 Did you exchange some dollars to Lira or how were you able to have the Turkish currency? Or you US card worked fine at Türkiye for payments? I’ll really appreciate your response. Thank you ☺️
