I have a Corsair PSU in my gaming rig and the 750W Plus gold one I have has never ever done me wrong. Does what it says on the tin, gives stable power and its damn quiet too. When you can get them at a discounted price then these are great VfM, I keep checking HUKD for them. Thanks Mike and Kath.
Been watching these channels during my upgrade journey which I completed today (really appreciate youtube and its tech experts for this). I kept my RX-580 and my TX650M, but after 4 years in a cheap case with no filters, those screws had to come out to clear out the chaos. Always nice to survive the task without electrocutions! It now has a much nicer life in a great Corsair case with filters. It's happily powering a B550 Aorus Pro, and hope it lives for a few more years.
@@mikesunboxing Yes, I got the A35 cooler (non-RGB) to put temperature-anxiety behind me, and you had a good video for that. I have the 220T RGB glass-front case which is a bit of a poser, but I'm getting used to it. As it's to my left, I didn't bother with any more RGB variants, and the front is enough anyway! Very nice to look at, because it's actually quite impressive.
Sorry... one thing I will never use in my own rig is generic PSU. I use a Seasonic 850w platinum because I need peace of mind since I cannot afford to replace components!
Completely agree, there are only certain brands of power supplies I will accept into my main and only rig. Currently I have the EVGA T2 Titanium 1000W, which was made by Super Flower!
@Sky Stalker "generic"? Sorry Sky but think you are missing the fact most PSUs are made by an OEM, Seasonic being one of the 4-5 reputable ones. Why limit yourself? What's of more importance is knowing who the OEM is, not the name one the casing.
If you guys are still on the fence with this PSU, I've been using this exact model for 7 Years now and it is still alive. Some parts have change but the PSU is still alive and well. Ryzen 5 1500x to 5600g and 1050ti to RX6600 is the only thing that's change. Very great budget PSU. Even if this PSU die on me any day now I will give it a salute. Honestly, I want to buy a new one now but this thing is still kicking strong. I am not paid by Corsair but, thank you Corsair anyways you guys make great PSUs.
Just to make it clear again, I had the exact version the one in this video the "GOLD" rated version not the Bronze one. Very happy with this PSU. I am still using an old B350M mobo still with updated bios.
Hi Mike bought this PSU recently quite easy to swap out the cylon for Corsair. Only criticism I have is the length between the sata connectors on the cylon there was more length lol. Had to do a bit of creative thinking linking up the three SSDs in the citadel mesh it's quite tight behind the back panel. Gets the thumbs up from me and 7 warranty is the main selling point. 👍
Aware of the 12v rail rating being more important but when faced with choice of £30 or £60 I have bought the cheapest as never stressed the PC to need big outputs. Having said that I had a 550w psu, upgraded to an FX8350 and it kept crashing until installed an 800w psu lol Thanks for reviewing Mike and Kath👍
This is where PC Part Picker is invaluable; putting your build together on it will give you the wattage the build will need. I always mulitply that number by 1.5 to figure on what PSU to get, always going "up".
Hi Mike, I'm interested in buying this power supply, but I'm a little worried that there might be some disadvantage as it came out back in 2017! Would that make any difference in terms of the kind of quality I might expect, or how long it will last?
there are still making them so it will be a more recent version if you buy one. the only real downside is on native PCIe gen5 gpu power and the older ATX2.4 standards rather than the newer ATX3.0 depends on the system you are building and what you have planned for future upgrades
i have that PSU, bought at end of 2020 for about £65 when i was building my current PC, Ryzen 5 3600 + 3060ti, seems to be fine with this, but i hadnt noticed it was rated at 612w !!, are the bigger models the same? 750/850. Bargain at £40 though either way.
Hi Mike been looking at a new PSU and this one crops up on my list and kolink also do a 700w 80 plus bronze for £50 from CCL. Couldn't find many reviews on the kolink so this Corsair will do. Son's pc had the kernel error 41 ran a few tests and the cylon 500w had it's day unfortunately. Lol...
Great PSU for £40, unfortunately its currently £80 on Amazon UK with the 2021 version being £92. Will definitely look out for it to see it comes down in price. Great review.
@@mikesunboxing EVGA's cheap "bargain" models (non-modular BR and BA series) only have a 30 C temp rating. Would not touch those with a 10 ft pole; perhaps for a work computer but definitely not a gaming one. Yet, I see TH-camrs using them in their promoted "budget builds" under X amount of $$-mistake.
...it was not a Black Friday or Cyber Monday Deal, bc I had been watching the price for a couple of months and saw the price had gone from $79 to $55, but around then I pulled the trigger on a Thermaltake Smart BM2 750W 80+Bronze semi modular, all flat black cables, PSU with 140mm rifle bearing fan, w/5yr warranty. Made by one of your favorites, CWT. Did not at all need it but thought it was a good idea to have an extra PSU on hand in case on of mine or my son's goes out of commission and this way we can use it as a stop gap. Price just seemed too good to pass up. Very nice looking unit. Tested with EVGA tester and runs nice a quiet. Right after, price jumped back up to $75-$79.

glad to have it as a spare for now, but might end up putting it into the streaming PC as a little upgrade

Totally agree with you Sky. To me, the power supply is your most important component in the system. Take care. Cheers.

yeah they are quite close together
Sounds like a good one so already gave a LIKE.
I have the RM550 at the Min but may need to upgrade it with my GPU High Quality PSUs these are almost silent opperation too
i'm getting used tx650m bronze, hopefully it won't have issues with my planned gpu upgrade from gtx 970 to rtx 3060
should be fine for that

poor old cylon :-)
@@mikesunboxing cheapest I could find Is £62 on ebuyer....🤣🤣🤣
612w to 650w is probably within the over power headroom especially on a decent brand like Corsair
yes easily
Hi Mike it’s coming up at £79.99 for me
gone back up for a while, it will be posted in the discord chat when on offer again

Great review.
Fingers crossed! wouldn't mind another one as a spare
Number one, it's a Corsair - known for great quality! Secondly, a 600W PSU is just fine for most machines.
Understand that Corsair does not make the PSU, they just have their name on it.
Thanks for the review Mike! Well the PSU should suffice since in the build I’m using an i512400F/RX6600.
No problem!
txm really do be the semi modular version of the RM series
there really isn't a huge gap between them spec wise
Most RMs are made by CWT; some made by CPT (Chicony Power Technology).
Any idea Mike, what type bearing the fan has?
seems to be a rifle bearing in the NR120

Is this better than the rmx?
similar not better as such
Bronze version of this made by CWT.
I am using this PSU with a 5800x3d and 6800xt, seems to work fine
Still works?
