    Hi Xin that green netting they put on scaffolding makes for good shade cloth

    • @MaybeBonsai
      @MaybeBonsai  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will try to find better shade material, but yes some kind of netting that is better than the current one

    Bravo Zulu for answering everyone's questions. Nice Jade too, pretty much the only plant I can't kill.

    Funny thing... I've been to the nursery today because i also have some Kind of bug on my schefflera that causes similar symptoms like in your plants. He suspected thrips. If you got some weird dark spots and trailways on the underside of the leaves, new baby leaves get black and die off it might be that or maybe some kind of mite.
    He told me to spray mine with a solution of neemoil and water once, which I already did beforehand.
    Otherwise there can't be much done about it. They will disappear when the weather changes again. They prefer warm and wet conditions.
    Leave the leaves on. It just looks weird but the plants need their leaves to sustain themselves and recover.
    Greetings from Austria.

      Thanks for the info, summer is coming to end in a month or so and hopefully that will be the end of it. I will leave the trees out for a bit longer this year to ensure whatever it is dies off. Thanks again Herlinde

    Nice tour! The PA is looking good. The white pines! So cool to see eastern white pines

    • @MaybeBonsai
      @MaybeBonsai  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks, the white pines are collected when I started bonsai and they were just sticks. They have a long way to go haha

    Thanx for bench tour Xin, all lookin great. Over here we’re really suffering cos the sun’s “at it”all the time n no rain so I’ve rigged up a bed sheet over my trees for shade n they’re loving it! If/when it rains I’ll just whip it off!! I wish I could have your cuttings, can’t get a PA for love nor money round here! I saw a few variegated ones but too slow for me being of advanced years!! Hey ho, God bless you Xin 🙏✝️ ✌️🇷🇺☮️🇺🇦✌️

    • @MaybeBonsai
      @MaybeBonsai  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the sun is the same here and not enough rain. Bed sheet is a good idea. The variegated one grows ok, not as fast but not that slow hahaha

      Good morning! Yep I might go for one actually after yesterday’s near death experience! I fell into a derelict swimming pool, fully clothed, 4foot of stagnant weedy water, praise God I live to say put cuttings in a plastic bag! Much safer!!🤕

      @@MaybeBonsai you can try perhaps with drywall mesh? Another option could be garden fleece (used to wrap around trees and bushes for wintering) but it’s so dense that I don’t know if it let’s water pass (some light for sure)

    Nice late summer tour, brother. Your trees are looking pretty strong. Some of my native trees get black freckling on the leaves, showing my they are over watered and/or fall is approaching. No clue what it means on a tropical though.
    The PA is looking great. I was diggin the branch selections.

    • @baldyeti
      @baldyeti 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, reference the shade cloth, what if you took a few mins to weave some fabric or some paracord (550 cord) between the plastic chicken wire. Maybe every third or fourth row. This might up the shade a bit with minimal costs

    • @MaybeBonsai
      @MaybeBonsai  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Billy, maybe it is over watered. I will try slowing the water on it and see if that makes a difference 👍

    Bench looks good Xin.
    I think if you just rotate the PA counterclockwise a bit in the pot so that back branch is more visible it will fill the negative space more quickly. Thanks, keep growing

    Nice cleanup on the portulacaria! Wow, you are super successful with the maple cuttings!

    • @MaybeBonsai
      @MaybeBonsai  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Jay, those maples are seedlings. I have zero success with maple cuttings lol
      I am hoping most of the seedling can make it thru the second year, at which time I am sure I need to give away a bunch of them lol

      @MaybeBonsai  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I tossed all the cuttings from this pruning. I don’t have any more room for them and they root too easily haha
