just a note, the signs asking people to not take photos were put in there by the owner a year or two ago to stop people showing the public how much the building has deteriorated. I used to work in this building in 2014 with a group of volunteers in an effort to restore it. The red steel beams seen when you first enter the theatre are what remains of the vip bar that we took down along with the dance academy stage to reveal the original stage underneath. As much as it feels good to see the old girl again, it's heart breaking to see how deteriorated it's gotten. Absolute shame

Because the labour council at the time made them.. it’s all a very corrupt situation. Apparently the Freemasons wanted the place and stitched up the owner saying he was selling drugs, he wasn’t! He held on to the building for years so they would not win! It’s for sale though now I believe x

@Brett- M the council will not let him do anything. Its a listed building and he has applied for the correct work to be done . He could not do anything when he was wrongfully put inside for 7 years. Now the council will not grant him any licence to either restore as a club theatre hotel etc.

I loved going here as a teenager, it’s so sad to see it in this state. Quite eerie being so still and lifeless. Like looking back on the titanic remembering the life that was flowing through its veins. Hope they bring it back to its former glory. Well done for braving it, I often drove past wondering what it’s like inside now.

Wow what a fantastic explore with Uncle Matt . Jess looked like Laura Croft the way she nimbly glides across the rotting floor and love your narration Sam and the music you put in the beginning. It's deteriorated further in the last couple of years but not as bad or waterlogged as I thought it would be. Shame you didn't explore the tunnel under the stalls floor. That pyramid thing on the roof is the concrete cover over the dome. The first room on the left in the attic has a hatch that leads into the bottom of the turret. All the clothes and food were left by a homeless organisation who didn't seem to care what state they left the place in when they moved out. The "no photography" notice was theirs too. All the theatre seats were taken out in 1984 as part of the nightclub conversion. Great video, guys. Thanks for the chance to see it's still not past saving.

The council wanted to shut this place down years before the end. There was a leaky roof that they wouldn't allow to be fixed (for mere thousands of £s) and now it would cost millions. I vaguely remember queueing outside for a rock concert or film (?) 50 years ago.

Great explore but the commentary is a little frustrating. It seems to overlook the fact that many of the things shown were there from the nightclub days, not the original theatre!
