@@starwarstragedy1937 Let me tell you discovering that one on tv at night with 14, yeah that was a trip. Watched again 10 years later or sth and was astounded how much artistic value it actually has when you research the author of the book a bit, and how openly interpretable it all is. Great film really, definately less accessible than others, but you just don't forget a movie like that

I love how this movie handles all the spiders in this movie and I absolutly love how much this movie terrifies me every time I watch it,seriously this is how spiders must be made if you're going for realism and it's because they look and behave so realisticly that I don't often watch this movie as it gets under my skin every single time I see it,the Godzilla sized tarantula in the movie "Tarantula" doesn't scare me mostly because of how comically big it is,it looks like something that I'm basically not afraid of,an unrealistically large spider that would simply buckle and get crushed by its own weight but the spiders in this movie evoke anxiety, fear and great intrigue in me mostly due to how realistic they look and behave,if you want to watch a spider movie that both scares you and makes you laugh I highly recommend that you watch Eight Legged Freaks,I'll say just one thing about that movie but that's it,it's a movie that knows not to take itself too seriously and actually embraces its humour rather than fight it and become "unintentionally" funny

How do we live with it ? By being aware of your surroundings, watching where you put your hands and feet, shaking out your shoes before putting them on , staying away from riverbanks and definitely staying out of the sea .

"How did they guarantee the safety of the spiders on this set?"
That's a really good question! The spider species they selected for this film was super intenional. Not only is it non-poisonous. It lives inside of trees, between the bark and the actual trunk, and spends a lot of time totally flattened out. So when the book drops on the spider and the little girl steps on it, underneath the book it's just spread itself out and is perfectly fine. When somebody picked up the book it just went about it's usual spidery business.

I've got a story about this Film from when I was a kid. I found on a tape with this recorded off of TV in a draw, which people did a lot back then as blank tape was cheap. My cousin was round my house playing with my sister, she found me watching it and joined in. My sister, who must have been 4 at the time, also stayed and watched it. She was really frighted by one of the jump scares. That night, she woke up screaming and telling my parents that she dreamt a spider was attacking her. I of course got blamed.

A few movies suggestions for three low budget but excellently made movies. Judging by some of the cult, indie movies you've reacted too. 1. Abel Ferrara's bad lieutenant a masterpiece, Harvey Keitel's best performance. 2. Mam bites dog, a Belgian mockumentary following around a serial killer in France. 3 sexy beast, a British gangster movie. All up there as cult classics. Great reactions from Ireland 🇮🇪

This one really got to me! I had a problem with brown recluse spiders at my house when this came out & almost didn’t watch it! Glad I did but had my exterminator come to spray again the next day! 😂

I listened to the whole thing but when you said “that’s such a cool macro shot with the spider eyes” my curiosity got the best of me and I hated it, now I am afraid of spiders looking at me as much as I am afraid of them. Watch ice spiders next so I can feel validation for being terrified

Most enjoyable Arachnophobia reaction, bar none hahahaha. Also shout out to Trevor Jones with the awesome film score on this one. It's one of my favorites and totally slept on.

The movie you're thinking of would be "Eight Legged Freaks". That has the enormous sized critters that can take over the world!

Own it on blu-Ray, my parents scared the mess out of me with this movie when I was a kid. Still great, still holds up, still love it! ❤

I really think you should see Lucio Fulci's The Beyond which also has an intense spider scene.
