Looks cool for a one time visit. The rocks and petrified wood were interesting.

Petrified Forest is a geological wonder for sure! The process by which the logs are formed as well as the pictographs make this park unique from other parks out there. The pictographs and Agate House help make tourists and hikers appreciate the beginnings of Native American society out west. 2:49 is nostalgic for me because I do kind of remember those Pueblo buildings.

I have been to PF many times and I love its low key vibe. The badlands in Blue Mesa and on Blue Forest trail are some of the most stunning I have seen. I would really like to do an overnight backpacking trip in the park sometime.

I'm not sure if the NPS would allow Amtrak to build a station withing Petrified Forrest, but there are decent spots close by. There is a 122.5 mi gap between Gallup, NM and Winslow, AZ on the Southwest Chief. While not exactly splitting 50/50, a new station just east of the park with a throughway connection would make sense. Some Scout Troops already use Ranton, NM to reach Philmont and there are a few stations in Glacier National Park on the Empire Builder. The Grand Canyon Railroad used to operate a shuttle between there station and Amtrak's in Williams, but they got tired of it so now Amtrak operates a throughway from Flagstaff to Williams, so its not completely unheard of

Would be great to have transportation to the park for those without a car.

@@TravelDash I know both SEPTA and Amtrak want to restore service west of Norristown and the old train station by Washington’s Headquarters is currently used as a museum. Now I don’t support reopening that station, especially since they (re)moved the parking lot, but there is an abandoned station closer to the Valley Forge Casino and US422 that could easily be integrated into existing routes with busses to Norristown and Phoenixville (which is also included in both plans) easily being able to be deviated to serve the station-which is walkable to the Valley Forge Park Welcome Center
