Brilliant. There was/is nothing like this in the States where most of this music was recorded. I grew up listening to Motown in the 60s... I would give anything to go back and dance this. I love this here in the UK. I can’t stop smiling and being jealous. Such happiness and joy.
People just top the with the hate, please give some respect to this new northern soul generation. Every generation will change things a little and take Northern Soul to different times. They keep the faith alive.
The guy and gal in front are good but the lass in the polka dot blouse behind them is top notch, slowly building up and then gets right into it, brilliant. There’s another vid on you tube, which goes on longer, of the same group, that lass is a superb dancer
It is hard and bad for your feet and knee joints to do a lot of dancing in trainers you will burn out. You ideally need leather soled and heeled shoes. I know I have been Northern Soul Dancing since 1967, starting at the Twisted Wheel, then the Torch, then Wigan Casino. I am still traveling all over now to Northern Soul events at 66 years old. I would give everything I had to relive my youth, and those brilliant days all over again.
i find that hard soled shoes like brogues ar best. i, like you, have seen better years, and to go there all over again would be heaven. i used to love to stomp to willie mitchell, but it's just no way now.
Both of you are fantastic! Must take years of dedication and practice to dance with such skill and timing. Great to watch, keep it up and keep the faith!
@@boktobak Dunno about Dogsbody but at least I've got you beat on consistency Dougie. I can't do it that well now BUT I could never do it *that* well then either ;-p
All my life I have danced to the baseline rather than the beat. I never knew why and always thought it odd. My older brother kept the faith. Your comment connected the dots for me. Thank you.
He’s very good I hope he became a professional dancer . I suspect he like the rest of us have good memories dancing with passion every weekend and took it no further .
as a northern lad it was the dance music of my youth but it was already decades old, and there was a finite amount of tracks with no new music being recorded, it had a limited shelf life then but somehow it has survived four more decades, a testamant to just how good the music and the dance was,
The style back in the seventies.Haven't you ever watched the Sweet Sensation vid of Sad Sweet Dreamer-now they are what I call flares. It was a bit of both I suppose, but mainly the fashion of the day.
Yeah. Never mind the evidence of your own eyes. Leather soled brogues. Oh ..... wait a minute. Brogues for the image. Anything that won't grip and trip you for the dancing innit? To be honest its not my shoes that would stop me doing what that lad does brilliantly (and the lass ain't bad) - You'd have to be massively fit too to maintain that pace for more than 30 seconds. Colour me *well impressed*.
Not really Maree. Important thing is not to be too grippy because you'll want to slide your feet (especially when you're knackered). I have often thought 'aquiring a long term loan' of a pair of bowling alley shoes could be a perfect solution but have never figured out how to get my own shoes back from the bolwing alley too ;-p

Maybe because it originated in the north part of England..
@@boredweegie553 Things usually travel though, or similar dances, that's all he's getting at.

the girl with the white top with the black going down the front is so amazingly stunning xx

This is amazing footwork, it is so difficult to continue shuffling and get the timing correct, respect to you !

Love it some footwork amazing!!🤩
Love the foot work . . . . a touch of Irish.
Dancing to the bass line...takes stamina and skill...

Bodi Onafun Wonderful memories ✊🏽🎶
Allways move to the bass it's the driving force to your feet plus I play it
He’s very good I hope he became a professional dancer . I suspect he like the rest of us have good memories dancing with passion every weekend and took it no further .
Somebody with such talent will still be involved with music one way or the other. 💚
Great foot work, enjoyed this...took me back 😜
great song, great footwork. Keeping the faith
The girl behind them has super footwork
Fantastic to see the next generation doin it AMAZING!!!!!!!!
Fantastic footwork ....try entering Blackpool soul weekend ...when this Covid 19 is contained ...might be a while yet.
Did I mention I had the best northern collections in HORWiCH ;-)
agree with you Ian they are all decent movers, but the lass at the back has more natural movement and reeks class

Best stompers I've seen brilliant 👏 👌 ✊️
Anyone know the song in this video?
Her name is fiona the guy is great as well
It looks more like river dancing but good foot work, northern soul moves around the floor more, keep the faith scene still going strong ,
I think if someone has good rhythm, anything goes.
NICE ONE
What’s the name of the move that he does around 1:03? Cracking moves!!
The Dancing is fantastic just cant get me ed around the Dress Sense
Nice one!!
yep v/similar when I was younger@wigan-casino mid 70's bit 2 old 4 the pace now hahaha!,but yes they were both excellent top dancer's I must say!!!.
I've seen this before but in colour.
girl behind with black trousers and light long sleeved shirt is
a more stylish mover in my humble opinion
agreed - whilst some are very athletic they seem to lack a bit of soul. Still good dancers though
The girl behind is top class dancer
Yes thats because shes in rythm!
Effortless is what she is. Some people try too hard and forget the soul.
I agree with you ,the girl light top is very good ,reminds me of a girl called Chris from Bolton that used to go to Wigan 77/79
If you mean the kid in the shorts, I agree.
I love stinky get funky and I do moves like that
Anyone know the name of this song?
Why the trousers guys?is it too enhace the movements or has it got historic connections?.im not having a go just curious.looks like good times.

Fuckin cool tune , who isthis
Really
you need leather soled brogues to dance northern soul not trainers

do they have to be special dance shoes for northern soul. They all seem to glide across the dance floor with ease.
Or Polyveldts

Oh Sorry I answered the wrong comment!
Hey c'mon people let's not slag each other's dance styles off.
What is the track playing please
?
Think it;s Billy Davis Stanky gets Funky,
@@patriciafarquhar4908 Yep
Why does that woman always try to out-do the other dancers on videos? I see her on a few trying to steal the limelight
Name of the song please
Sckanky get funky, I think?
Does anyone know what the song is ?
Billy Davis - Stanky (get Funky), released on Cobblestone 731
He looks like he's doing Electro Swing to me, similar but it aint Northern Soul
Doesn't matter what he's doing, he's fantastic!
And more important, enjoying himself.
the moves at 051 are dreadful--the rest are ok.
