Becky thank you for making these videos to be viewed while you are gone! I know you work hard all the time and are really enriching our lives! Hope your cruise is fun! I know you work hard on those too!! Thank you sooooo much! Merry Christmas!!
Great video and tips! When I began quilting I asked my LQS how to do this correctly and I got a deer in the headlights kind of look! It all makes sense now! ❤
This is so helpful, Becky! I purchased a beautiful piece of fabric for a backing - then I discovered it is directional. So I’ve been terrified to mess it up. Your video helps tremendously! ❤️
I’ve always done the cut with fold side closest to me. I’ll try the selvage edge next time. Also, seems I overthink getting the ends straight and then get frustrated when loading my longarm. Thank you for the tips!
I have found that there’s no guarantee that the fold off the bolt is actually straight. Most of the time it is, however, I have had situations where when held up by the fold and the salvage edges were 3 to 4 inches apart! So I stopped using the bolt fold toward me. You will always get your fabric straight by using the salvage edge towards you and making sure it is even with a line on the mat.
Becky, I am sure you have said this many times, but May I ask what brand or type of table you are using for your cutting table I like the little shelf that holds your rulers and the part with the oval cut-out

Her husband built the table for her
That is a custom table made just for me by my husband.
