I really like how you watch it once without lyrics and then another time with. It's helpful to focus on the visuals and lyrics separately and see how they come together

dictionary told me korean tittle 방화 can have two meanings that are actually the opposite: fire prevention and arson
Official prerelease description of Arson said "Arson pictures j-hope’s encountering the world outside the box and standing at the crossroads agonizing which path he should take"
Lines of the song "Right I did build the fire right away, now ask me, do i put out the fire or burn ever brighter" follow the two faces of the actual word 방화 that presents us the choice
In the teaser to Arson we actually saw the same box from MORE burning. so intimately he’s choosing to burn down the box that holds down his shadow and at the same time holds the hope of pandora's box. he can't be his true self, can’t be the hope he wants to be, without acknowledging bad things. bad things inside himself like a demon in the jack-box and bad things about the world like horrors that were inside pandora's box and were unleashed. hope is positive, but if there's no negative alongside with positive, positive stops being special. hope loses its purpose
all these themes are discussed by him later in the album: the nature of hope and the nature of bad
MORE already had a hidden theme of a choice, i just didn't know it then. the line was “Eenie meenie miney mo” and this counting rhythm is used for choosing one of the many options
    hobi's words about arson:
The title imagery definitely fits the visual concept that I chose for this song. This is a song about J-Hope’s own ignition of my own passion. I ignited a passion for myself, to pursue my career, to pursue my music. But looking back, it kind of went out of control, and the whole world around me is on fire. I have released a lot of songs and music, and I have gotten to receive love and support from all around the world. So now, the fire or the ignition of the passion is not easy to put out anymore. So I wanted to visually express and convey that message through this song titled “Arson.” And this song is also about how now I’m at a crossroads - a point of choosing between whether I want to put out this fire that I started, or do I want to continue and make it flame even more?
just my thoughts hehe i loved and agreed w your interpretation too

J- Hope said to listen to album like you’re reading a book. Pandora open the box and released all the evil in the world. BTS and J-Hope experience so much negativity at first. J-Hope even considered leaving. He also worried about his future. So now he has burned all that negativity away. A butterfly was left in the box called Hope and now he is done he is reborn and now will burn brightly for his future. Check out Blue Side on the cover is a Jack n box J-Hope had this on his mind for awhile💜

    Hoseoks new song is fire.
Words can't begin to explain just how Fire and Dope this song is.
I live the old hiphop beat of the song and I also love how catchy it is.
I love how the lyrics rhyme with eachother and I love his voice in this song aswell.
The MV is amazing as I love how burnt-out everything is, I so love how "arson" is written is fire.
I also love the message behind the lyrics too.
Thos side of Hoseok I'm loving I can't wait to hear the entire album now.

Hobi said he wanted to show his fans a different deeper raw edgy side of himself and he wants new challenges.. He has completely succeeded in giving Army an amazing album, which has been on repeat all day💜💜💜

The most amazing thing is JH was only a dancer. He started rapping with RM and Suga. And where he is now... I new he was good and different when I saw him in that black outfit in TEAR live performing in a fierce manner. He warned us about his individual style with Boy meets Evil and Hangsang 💜

It's so good and only gets better with each listen. And the MV is so cool.
The whole album is great and one you wanna listen to in order to get the full experience and look up the lyrics. He did great with this album.
My fav songs from it (now) is 'Arson' and '= (Equal Sign)' but the whole album is soooo good from the intro that sets the tone to the 'Music Box' interlude to 'Arson' that ends the album.

This song and video captured me from the premier. When he said "It's done, it's done, it's done" I knew I was in for a ride. And the album is awesome, too. That's pretty much been my day, streaming the album, the MV and the reactions to the MV lol. This album is up there, for me, with Agust D D2. If you haven't listened to D2 I HIGHLY recommend it as well as Jack In The Box by JHope. Well, I'm off to bed lol. Good night!

I think you are the only reactor I've watched who actually grasped exactly what Hobi was trying to express. Great reaction!!

What I love about this video is at the end, you can see the fire burning within him. The special effects of the slashes on his face, and you can see right into him, and see the flames burning within. The first couple times I watched it, I did not like those end scenes. But then I realized that scene of his face, summed up the whole meaning of the song.

Totally agree with you on the meaning of it, specially after listening to the whole album (wich is soo good, i think you're gonna like it). Also, i highly recommend checking his previous mixtape called Hope World if you get the chance, i feel like it gives context to where this kind of mindset comes from, plus it's really good too hahaha
    Thanks for the reaction 💜
Ps: Hobi just shared a short video of the behind the scenes for Arson on his instagram if you wanna go check that out🤭

The whole album is perfect, a great story. You need to listen to it in order as Hobi made it that way, like a storybook. I hope you do an album listen.

It would be wild if you could listen to the whole album - song by song (whether here as a reaction or just for yourself) - because Hobi wrote this as one work, with a more general narrative weaving through it. The whole album is great, the lyrics are very deep and moving. I got up very early to listen to everything on the release day and I don't regret it! It's been one of my favourite albums since then! J-Hope is a genius!
PS. Hobi once mentioned that he watches the reactions on YT, so your message at the end to him makes a bit of sense :D

J-Hope has said in the past that he was concerned about his future when they all were discussing their life plans... it was quite a while ago. Do you think the ARSON was real or cg?

might sound crazy, but I think They actually filmed ARSON in flames, on a smaller scale, then Added J-Hope in post
