Why do navies keep using that WWII era landing craft? The moment the door is opened, soldiers will be shot dead. Why not create a new landing craft with rear door and wheels?

The US is not going to use a landing craft unless it has air superiority first and has bombed the shit out of any costal defenses. We didn't have precision bombing in 1944. Now we do.
