My grandfather was on the engineering team for this. I remember getting to see the unclassified blue prints for this after he retired . It was cool having a grandpa that was a civil defense engineer for 50 years . He worked on alot of neat projects in that time starting with the Fleetwing aeronautical fighter dive bomber , then the Bronco , the Lcac , the space shuttle , and ending his career with the Abrahms .
My first LCAC ride was spent sitting in my uparmored 7-ton truck that was chained to the deck. It was 45 minutes of blasting through choppy surf right into the backside of the waiting Bonhomme Richard. [2007, 13th MEU]
Wow man! Just imagine like all the engine switches, fans, exhaust systems all those buttons and instrument panels inside the cockpit? This isn't even a maritime military vehicle most people even know about! It's an outstanding feat of engineering I'd LOVE to pilot that puppy! Amazing.
*_Never_* in my entire life have I seen something as utterly ridiculous as this 'seaborne contraption'! 😄😁😆😅😂🤣 (PS: I've spent my entire life at sea across the world.)
I see a business opportunity with the LCAC if they ever surplus.. transporting supplies to northern Canada and Alaska is difficult after the ice melt... the LCAC could ferry 1 loaded semi.. or.. better yet.. 2 loaded trailers across the expanses.. would need the tractor at each end..
When I was a member of the U.S. Navy Unit that brought the LCAC's on or off shore called BeachMasters Unit One Detachement Western Pacific in the mid-90's, we had to learn the basics of the LCAC. They only get a few inches off the surface of the ground or water at most 6 inches if I remember correctly..
@@tony_m_km6mzp I was watching a video where the military was looking for a next generation of these giants. Supposedly they could be lighter with less motors. Maybe that could make hovercraft lift higher. I was thinking instead of fans why not jet engines? That would push a lot of air. Also revamping the hull shape. I think there is definite room for research and development.
@@tony_m_km6mzp They can actually clear anything less than 4 feet high, The skirt will ride just above the surface. I've gone over concrete barricades as if they weren't even there.
They were actually tested going over mines in and out of the water. The air flow is so great it didn't sustain any damage. Were talking about 1,000,000 cubic feet of air per second. Yes per second.
Is that big baby naket. I sees no weapons on her. May I ask why a military vehicle possess no weapons. If so, may I says, that you people sure like living dangerously, or maybe you have not confronting real danger as to yets. So please add some weapons on your military vehicle for your future confrontation. No seriously, just do it. Because everyone in all around the world are doing it.

That’s sick
Amazing Career
I love how much of the gear on the trucks has yet to be unwrapped

And the 1 bullet that takes it outta commission. Does that soldier get credit for all the kills
My dad was a navigator on one of these for 16years. ACU-5 Camp Pendleton. LCAC-13 was his boat. I loved being around these as a kid.
Truly one of those force multipliers. Really fun to ride in. ACU-5, 11th MEU 2002.
We must say thank you to Sir Christopher Sydney Cockerell CBE RDI FRS for this wonderful invention.
Piloting an LCAC would be great fun!
Wow! it amazing U.S. NAVY. Like you content very much
As a Gas Turbine Tech. the US Navy offered me this job as long as I would reenlist. I said " Thank You. I'd rather be a civilian".
This is really cool

Such amazing beasts!
I wish there are at least two units of these in the Phil.Navy .
Nice🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
How many troops can transport it? and will they be compleately soaked in water?
They can ride in some vehicles and the is space in the two cabins for about 25 troops. I was an LCAC Navigator.
Slow and wet, it is not lifting off the water.
It hovers a few inches above the water or ground.
@@tony_m_km6mzp wrong.
Espatifa agua pra todo lado😄
God bless a true force in the world and a true value friend, God bless AMERICA !
Boffan guns and mini guns and missle and laser's forward and aft.
This would give all round protection over the hoover craft.
Cassin Well
Easy to distinguish between east coast and west coast craft.
How? Seems like there is always a difference between the two coasts.
Windler Brook

I feel like a couple dozen giant anti tank hedgehogs on the beach would be enough to complete disable this thing
How high do big hovercrafts get off the ground?

Two thrust power axial blade fan and two power axial air cushion with main control elbow drive
Eu ainda continuo acreditando que essa máquina é inútil.
Muito lenta , instável e muito fácil de abater.
One direct artillery hit as it approached the beach....
Ok...
Again flaw in the basement of the hoover craft with no armour protection.

The LCAC is being protected by the Amphibious ship that is either launching or recovering the LCAC. And possibly air support.
Not needed, the marines in their Cobra helos will annihilate the enemy.
WHAT a liar!!!!!
